Customer Review: No more nasty toothbrush, but limited lifespan

I love this sanitizer. It works as described and is easy to use. I'd say it runs warm, not hot. The toothbrush is dry and clean the next time I'm ready to use it. This unit is intended to be left plugged in, perpetually, and never completely shuts off by itself.
Don't push your toothbrush in too far or with too much force, or the bottom of the plastic basket might break through. That part doesn't seem to be made very well. The basket is removable and the middle area beneath the basket can be cleaned with a Lysol wipe or something like that, but the very bottom where the heat comes from cannot be easily accessed for cleaning. A stiff-bristled brush is provided to clean that bottom section, but once you dislodge something down there, shaking it out would be challenging, and there are warnings against submersing the unit in water.
This unit is Made in China and comes with a 90-day warranty on "LOBOR" and 1-yr warranty on parts. :( yes, it actually says "LOBOR".
Three out of five stars for weak basket (both sides broke on mine eventually) and limited lifespan due to nearly-impossible-to-access bottom. I suspect I'll have to re-buy this every year.
UPDATE January 31, 2010: I just ordered another to replace my year-old unit. Over time there was burned debris built up in the bottom (which is essentially inaccessible for cleaning), and finally, the first time today, it threw some of the debris up onto my tooth brush. Yuck.
I noticed some reviews more recent than mine have mentioned some sellers are selling fakes or defective units not intended for sale. Make sure you order direct from Amazon.com, not "fulfilled by" anyone; you are more likely to get a legitimate item from Amazon.com. Mine arrived in a full-color retail box with the same photos I have seen on the official Germ Terminator website. The box was sealed in plastic wrap and the unit inside was covered with additional cellophane wrapping. The water-cup was encased in an additional cellophane sleeve inside. I do believe units purchased directly from Amazon.com are authentic.
