Customer Reviews of Glyco-Lac/60, Level 2 Gel Peel -30 ml/1 fl oz

Customer Review: I love these products
Summary: 4 Stars

I am making my way through all these products. This is my second after I tried the strongest glycolic peel they have. After using that one and alternating it with this one, I heard my first skin compliments EVER!!! Especially after this one because I think it really brigtened it. Now for some, maybe it's hard for some to see the difference when you live with your own face everyday. But if a Co-worker that barely even knows me has commented on it, and that's just after 3 peels- it can't be a coincedence. I've never had a face full of acne, but I never had porceline perfect skin either that I've seen on other enviable women and I never thought that might be a realistic possibilty for me because I can't afford fancy dermatologists or facials all the time(never). This product I noticed is a lot easier to bear than the Glyc by itself. So, I alternate the two every week or two weeks. It's very important that you don't overdo, give your new skin a chance, it's more effective if the peels have something to really work with!!! The stronger Glyc by itself, does cause me dry skin, but with great results a few days later; this one is a great alternator, because adding the Lactic acid acts as a moisture absorber, while still maintaning the glyc results so I don't have to use the harsher one every week. I still have the odd need for spot conceler but far less. These products have even toned, exfoilated, brightened and almost eliminated my need for full face make up all together. For those of us who like these peel- we better stock up!!!

Customer Review: YAY!
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this after reading about the benefits of glycolic and lactic acid peels. Ever since I turned 24 (I'm 25 now) my face just EXPLODED! I haven't had a clear, unzitty day so far! (And recently it's been getting worse)....

I read about how these acids help to "Unglue" the dead skin cells from your face so that the fresh skin cells can regenerate better and also the dead cells won't be able to clog up into pores (Which is one reason for acne)..... The minute I read this I had to try a peel and see if it would help me skin!

I put it on last night, only kept it on for 2 minutes and then rinsed it off thoroughly. I also bought the pH balancer to use as an after treatment. SO far my skin FEELS so soft and LOOKS a LOT smoother. I'm waiting for the remaining spots I have on my face to heal up and then in the next week or so I will let you know if this helps keep new breakouts at bay by keeping my face regenerating........ I HOPE THIS WORKS!

EDIT: It is now 01/14/09 and WOW! What a difference! At first I used this peel once a week for about a month and MAN! It makes your skin so smooth and soft. After about two weeks I noticed I had not had ONE cystic zit! NONE! (I was still getting littler ones here and there but they were NOTHING compared to the big painful cystic zits I would normally get!) And now, two months later and my face is almost completely clear. I get about one zit a week, and it goes away FAST! I am so happy I found something that helped my acne prone skin!

Customer Review: Amazing... works perfectly for my skin.

As far as face treatments go, I've tried just about everything. Before using this peel, I had unsuccessfully used the Salicylic Acid 20% Gel Peel, from the same seller. For whatever reason(s), the Salicylic acid did not work well with my skin, nor did I see any positive results. Contrary to this peel, the Salicylic peel dried out my skin and was quite uncomfortable during the application process.

With that said, I moved onto this particular peel. I started with the Level 1 (Glyco/30) and eventually bumped up to this particular peel (Glyco/60). Since using this peel (3 months ago), I have noticed significant changes in my skin! Not only have I noticed, but my friends and family have noticed as well. I am constantly asked what I use on my skin... something that never happened to me before. I use this peel about once a week (sometimes once every two weeks) and couple it with Jason Natural Ester-C Lotion as well as a SPF top coat during the day (Olay Complete Ageless Skin Renewing UV Lotion). This peel works very well with sensitive skin, although you should definitely start with the Glyco/30 and work your way up to the Glyco/60.

Ultimately, this peel worked amazingly well for my skin. On a side note, it didn't help with my stubborn blackheads, however, it helped even out my skin tone and ultimately it helped give my skin a smooth and flawless appearance with minimal foundation on my nose and chin. Highly recommended!

Customer Review: Um....wow

Happy with this product. I just tried this for the first time last night so I can't speak to its long term efficacy. So far I'm impressed.

What I can say is that I sure am glad I tried it on a weekend and not a work day.

It did not really hurt while it was on. It stings a little. I left it on for 90 seconds. It washed off easily and did not leave my skin feeling sensitive. I'm a retin-a user and familiar with the sensitivity that comes with getting a bit too much of that and this was nothing like that.

And then I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror. Apparently I did not avoid my eyelids as well as I thought! While it doesn't hurt at all, my face is red high on my cheeks and on my upper eyelids just under my brow. (I'll be more careful there next time.) I could probably cover it with make-up if I needed to.

I'd say the way it felt is comparable to a mild spa peel, except that the spa did a better job of missing my eyelids.

I'm really glad I did not order the stronger version of the glycolic only peel. This stuff seems plenty strong.

I'm giving it only 4 stars because at this point I cannot accurately report on its effectiveness. This review will be updated after I've used it for a while.

Customer Review: It's just ok.

I think that this a great starter product for those new to home peeling. I've been using Glycolic peels for years in a stronger concentration so this was a step backwards for me. I got this product mainly for removing some sun damage. I have not used Lactic acid before and wanted to use a lighter concentration to start with. I have fair skin so any tiny bit of sun damage shows up fast. Always remember your sun screen! :)

I've noticed some difference after 4 applications but not the improvement I was looking for. For myself in the future I will probably go back to using Glycolic separately from the Lactic unless I can find a product that has a stronger percentage of Lactic & Glycolic in it.

I do have one recommendation for those new to these type of products. Definitely try it out on the back of your hand to see how your skin will react and so you can get a good idea of what you have to do to neutralize the peel and completely rinse it off. Another poster gave a better description & instructions on mixing baking soda with water to neutralize. I also recommend you use baking soda. & don't be cheap when rinsing. You don't want to leave these types of products on your skin for longer than necessary.

Good Luck :)
