Customer Review: a good idea mired by horrible customer service

Quite frankly this is not a viable company. It is too small. The idea is great, but unfortunately, they will not work with you. They do updates from time to time and they are completely full of viruses and bugs. I tried to contact them and after finally 5 days I hear from a supervisor who starts crying and telling me I am picking on her! She tells me about her personal problems. Unreal!
So basically this is the situation. If you can get this to work......and if it will interact with your computer...... {I got a new mac for december and it worked until they upgraded their software and suddenly it is no longer covered} then this is a great system that will help you! You will probably lose weight but......considering it will take you a minimum of 300 dollars. {70 for the watch} 150 for the band...... between 150 and 75 for the subscription} to possibly get it up and running...... oh also you will need new arm straps because it likely will not hold out too well. Mine broke after 1 month........you might just be better off exercising on your own and tracking your own foods. In the mean time I have a cheap watch and a cheap band that are complete trash. I will never recommend this to any of my friends again!

I've owned this for a month and am very happy with it. The display works great and is not unweildy. I haven't used the clip on...I just use it on the watch band.
The Go Wear Fit armband/display appears to be fairly accurate (that is, I'm losing somewhat close to what I should be based on my daily calorie deficit). I've lost 5 pounds so far...which is about what I was aiming for. (Could not exercise last week for the first time and I gained a pound even though I maintained a daily calore deficit. Grr.)
I was pleased with how simple the GoWearFit is to use. I didn't think I use the meal logging/calorie counting part of the program, but it is so fast and easy, I have been using it faithfully.
I wear the display constantly and use the "trip" feature to guage the intensity of my workouts. I find this very helpful. I also find that when I keep an eye on the calories burned per minute using the trip feature, I can maximize my calorie burning efficiency (for instance, turns out that if I skip my cool down and walk the track instead, I burn calories at a much higher rate than if I just walk the track at the same pace after I've been just sitting around). I am so glad I got this watch.

You have probably seen the GoWear Fit (aka "Body Bug") device on the "Biggest Loser" program (people wear it on the upper part of their left arm. I began wearing mine during a weight loss contest at our local Fitness Center. The information that this device provides is amazing and it is worth far more than the purchase price.
The GoWear Fit records the calories burned during each 24 hour period. It records the minutes of both moderate and physical activity as well as your sleep patterns. Using their online application (which costs an additional $6.95 per month), you can record your calories consumed and design your weight loss program.
Pros:
1. Easy to use.
2. Generates easy to understand reports
3. Helps you stay on track on your weight goals
Cons:
1. Expensive. The basic unit retails for $200. The optional display retails for $100.
2. On-going cost: You need to subscribe to their online tracking service at a cost of $6.95 per month.
3. One User Only: You must register the unit to yourself because it does calculations based on your personal profile. Another user would not be able to get accurate readings.

I bought this in conjunction with the GoWear Fit Armband. These two devices are the best things I've ever splurged on. The best part of the display is that you can see in real time where you are at while working out and very often I have found that it makes me work out harder and longer to reach the specific goals I have in mind. I felt since I couldn't afford a trainer on a weekly basis that this would be the thing that will push me the extra mile and it really has. In 3 weeks I've lost 7lbs so far. Its awesome to be able to track what you are eating on the website and see exactly how many calories you are burning. I hesitated before buying this and it was because of the reviews on Amazon that I decided to make my purchase. If you are struggling with weight loss then do this for yourself, you can really track your progress. Good luck!
The only critique I have is that the plastic on the display gets scratched very easily...I've worn watches before and have never scratched up a watch as quickly as I've scratched up the face on this display so it could definitely use to be made with a better material.

I got this display back when it was bundled in with the armband for a lot less money, and enjoyed it while I had it. I didn't have syncing problems, since I don't carry a cell phone or spend a lot of time in cell phone-dense places, and generally the display readout was within 50 calories of the actual web readout (the algorithms on the display and website are slightly different, and the website is the more accurate one). Mostly I liked being able to show people the display when I told them about my armband, cause it really drove home the coolness of knowing exactly what your body's doing during the day.
Sadly, I lost the display while snowboarding at Mt. Hood a few weeks ago... I'd stupidly clipped it to my pants, and it must have come off when I fell. Waaaaaah!
Really though, it's mostly just a toy, not a crucial part of the Gowear Fit (the website is really where it's at). It was fun, and I enjoyed using it, but it hasn't been any harder to stay on track with my calories in the few weeks since I've been without it, and I certainly won't be spending $70 to replace it.
