Customer Reviews of GoWear fit Display Device

Customer Review: GoWear watch dispaly
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this about a month ago after I bought the arm monitor from Bodymedia at [...]. Costco had a great deal on the monitor and the subscription for online monitoring but did not sell the wrist unit. I took a chance that this would work with the arm monitor as they are made by the same company Body Media. Body Media makes three monitors under separate names Bodybugg, GoWear Fit and Body Media. The wrist unit was able to sync with my arm unit with no problems.
The wrist monitor is very "plasticy." Not attractive but certainly durable. Read out is large and it has a backlight for darkness. It lets you know when you have reached your goals for the day -activity minutes, calories burned, steps walked. I like the instant feedback you get from the monitor verses having to plug into your computer if you had the arm monitor alone. Each time you remove the wrist unit or the arm unit you have to resync it them but this is no more than pushing two buttons.
I am very pleased with the unit and rate it highly.

Customer Review: Great idea, faulty design & construction
Summary: 2 Stars

I was really excited to get my BodyMedia Fit along with the display. I have been wearing it for a month and have enjoyed monitoring my daily calories and steps as I go. The concept of this device is great, but the durability is not-so-good.

The watchband is incredibly inflexible and uncomfortable. It grinds into my wrist bones and is made of stiff plastic-type rubber. Because the watch is so uncomfortable (and less than stylish), I opted to use the clip-on unit. Over the next four weeks that I wore it, the actual unit got looser and looser on the clip-on attachment, until one day I looked down and it was simply GONE! It took me about an hour, but I found it, and returned it to where I purchased it from.

I'm keeping the armband unit for now since I think it does work well, with the exception of stationary vigorous exercise, which there is a work-around so it's not too big a deal. Just don't waste your hard-earned money on this little do-hickey because it's far from worth it.

Customer Review: A MUST have if you purchase the armband
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my armband and monitor for a little over a week now. I dare say I'm addicted to seeing how much activity I am getting as opposed to how much I *thought* I was getting.

It's been very reinforcing for me to be able to check my progress throughout the day without having to upload the armband to the website.

As far as sync-ing the two devices, I initially had trouble and got pretty frustrated. I got back on the website and was able to get it to work by using the troubleshooting guide. We have MANY wireless devices in our house and our neighborhood and I really haven't had trouble since. Of course everytime you remove the armband or have the monitor away from it for any length of time you have to re-sync it. But again, I haven't had any trouble since the initial syncronization.

I'm now looking into buying both for my husband. So I'll have to update when I find out if there is a problem with two of us having each having our own in the same house!

Customer Review: GoWear Fit Display Device
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this a day after I ordered the GoWear Fit body monitor. It synced up right away- no charging necessary, it runs on a replaceable watch battery. When it synced, it printed out "Hello Denis" and immediately the previous day's information was available to me.

This display does exactly what it's supposed to do. It displays your target for the day and progress in calories burned, number of steps taken, and minutes of moderate to vigorous activity. It also shows the previous day's numbers.

And while the strap is unattractive, it also shows the time. Which is handy, because you don't want to feel stupid when someone asks you what time is it because they saw the watch band and all you can tell them is how many calories you've burned today.

If you've purchased the GoWear Fit body monitor, then I recommend this product as a necessary accessory if you don't want to log in to the Management System every time you want to see your numbers.

Customer Review: If you have the armband, you need this!
Summary: 4 Stars

If you have the BodyMedia armband, this, to me, is an essential add-on, as it allows you to monitor your calories burned in real-time. Otherwise, you have to wait until you plug the armband into your computer (and you must do this while you have internet access) to see your progress.

One of the ways I use the display is, when I go to the gym, I give myself a goal of calories to burn. I do my usual workout and then just get on the treadmill and stay there until I've reached my goal. This has helped me lost my desired pound per week for the last 6 weeks.

One caution, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5: It's advertised as "water resistant to 30 meters". I have a wristwatch with that same spec, which I wear swimming, in the shower, etc. But one time in the shower with this and the display fogged up, and it quit working for several days. At last it dried out and seems to be OK now, but I won't be wearing it in the water again.
