Customer Review: Product DOES NOT WORK with Bodybugg Armbands!

When you search Amazon.com for "bodybugg display device," this is the first hit you get. What is NOT clear from the webpage is that this GoWear Fit Display Device works with the GoWear Fit Armband, NOT the bodybugg armband, even though both are made by the same company. In fact, the GoWear Fit Armband looks identical to a bodybugg armband.
I'm sure that this display device is a fine product, but I think it needs to be made exceedingly clear on this page that if you are using a Biggest Loser/24 Hour Fitness Bodybugg device, do NOT buy this display device.
Other comments:
1) I totally heart Jillian Michaels.
2) I think Tara should have won the last Season.
3) I've been using my bodybugg for 6 weeks now and am down 10 pounds. Probably not enough to stay above the yellow line, but since my only competition at home is my cats, I'm probably ok.
4) Go San Dimas High!

well... not really. But I definitely use the display as a motivator when I exercise. I've set targets for both "vigorous" and "moderate" exercise and only the display lets me know how what I'm doing is counted -- sometimes the "moderate" seems as tiring as the "vigorous". I would hate to put in an hour at the gym and find out only after I downloaded the armband that I hadn't met an exercise goal for the day.
I agree that it looks clunky and I have a watch I like better, so I usually just put the display in my pocket, on the waistband of my gym shorts, or on the table next to my exercise bike.
as for the cost: not expensive for a piece of calibrated equipment. its more than a pedometer, cheaper than a good heart rate monitor. the Armband is a great piece of equipment, but the display allows you to monitor yourself during the day to progress toward your workout goals.

I couldn't imagine using a GWF without this nifty little display. I often look down at it, and see that I'm not close to my calorie/step target, which pushes me to do more that day. I also use it to track calories during workouts since it has a "trip" feature.
The wristband itself is a bit bulky, and I personally never use it. I clip the display to the inside of my pants pocket instead.
I generally don't have problems syncing to my GWF armband, but I have found that the sync process is more successful if you push the armband button first, followed by "mode" on the display, or wait until the "Press Arm Band Button to Sync" message completes scrolling on the display to press the button on the armband.
My only complaint is that the device doesn't have a timer/stopwatch/secondhand function.

I LOVE this product - for me, the display makes using the armband the most fun. Very motivating to see in real time the fruits of your labor. The ONLY complaint I have is a big one. The dial has fallen out about 6-7 times in spite of my efforts to get it to lock in. Finally, yesterday I lost it permanently because I didn't feel it fall out. Seems that they should either make it a watch or a pedometer style -not both - trying to do both jeopardizes the quality. Am now faced with the dilemma of whether or not to spend another $80 to replace this if the same thing is going to happen
UPDATE 5/28/09 - Contacted the GoGear Customer Service department and they immediately agreed to replace the display device. Just received it in the mail - only took 5 days to get it replaced. Excellent customer service!

We bought this with the armband and love it. We had some problems getting it to sync originally but if you wear the band for a minute and replug it to your computer and make sure it has a full battery it synced fine. We just got on the activity manager and followed the troubleshooting and it worked fine. Great motivator and worth the money.
UPDATE:: My husband loves this and has nothing but good things to say about it. He loves to constantly check where he is and it motivates him to hit his targets so it dings at him. We recently dropped it on the kitchen floor and the display cracked and you couldn't read all the numbers. When I contacted customer service they were quick to send a prepaid ups package to send back and get it replaced quickly. Must have accessory.
