Customer Reviews of GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management SystemCustomer Review: I LOVE IT! Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of research before I purchased this gadget. I have worn it for about 3 weeks and it has lived up to my high expectations. I only take it off to shower and that is when I plug it into my computer to charge. Calories in vs. calories out is really what weight loss is all about. This gadget is better than any diet pill or fad diet. I have been more cautious of my food choices. I can easily look at pie graphs to see what percentage of my food intake is from fat/carbs and protein. I can easily see what workouts burn the most calories - and I can see how lazy I am on some days!
Pros:
* I love how it tracks my calories burned, my intensity of workouts and my sleep. I manually log the food I eat at each meal.
* The website is easy to use - it is easy to navigate through the different categories.
* Excellent customer service! I had trouble logging in and I sent an email and I received an email and a phone call within 2 hours.
* I have a brand new Mac and it works without any problems!
* Other people posted about the armbands breaking or getting dirty. The band is easily cleaned with soap and water. It dries in very little time. If your band is breaking, then your arm is very large. I don't see how it could break unless you are very overweight.
* Charging it is easy and takes just 20 minutes a day (my unit is never low because I plug it in while I shower - so it is always charged!)
* The unit measure sleep efficiency. This was very eye-opening! Remember, obesity is linked with lack of sleep or poor sleep! I really try to get more sleep. Lack of sleep encourages me to make poor food choices and not exercise!
Cons:
* I wish the band could be worn under my clothing. It is hot in FL and whenever I wear a tank top someone asks "what is that!"
* I wish the extra armbands weren't so expensive!
* I wish the wrist transmitter was included in the price - it is an extra $79.99 for the watch that you wear on your wrist that tells you how many calories you have burned. Part of me likes not knowing so I stay on track until I sync the unit. Part of me wishes I knew on the spot so I could know if I should indulge!
* The monthly fee is $6.95 when you purchase it for a year. Not too pricey - but still an added fee. Weight watchers is $40 a month - so not a bad deal if you want to just do calories in vs. calories out. There are some websites that don't do all these nifty calculations and they are more than $6.95 a month.
If you have the money and want a gadget like this - go ahead and purchase it!
Customer Review: Simple tracking of Weight loss goals, based on science Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this Body Bugg for 7 days now. I love this device! I am trying to get back to what I weighed about 2 years ago, which means losing about 40 lbs. For some reason about 2 years ago my metabolism seemed to give up on me.
I have tried just tracking what I eat via many programs or even a piece of paper.
I have a pedometer.
I have Nike+ shoes, but they only work for things like walking, running etc.
And with all of these devices I still have to do the approximations of (based on my weight, age and activity level) how many calories my body burns "normally". Then I had to just trust the other devices as to how many calories were being expended, or find out from an online program how many calories I expended cleaning the house or doing yoga.
Since my rapid weight gain, my concern was that my metabolism was not "normal" and using the estimations based only on my weight and age were not good enough to determine how many calories should go in and especially how many calories are being expended.
So I bought this since it appears to use multiple body readings (sweat, body temperature, accelerometer, pedemoter, heart rate?) every minute/second to determine how many calories my body is expending no matter what I'm doing. Then I use the associated online program to track everything I eat. I can then see, how many calories in, how many out for each day see the averages and/or trends via the report functionality. Then I can compare that to if I am actually approaching my weight loss goals and at what speed.
I have already lost a bit of weight this first week, based on comparing the calorie deficit to my actual measured weight loss this device seems to be very accurate thus far! Sometimes the food list in the program is a bit skimpy, but I create foods and recipes and can get the nutritional info from another website and save it for use later.
A few days later I received the display device that works with the GoWear fit (Body Bugg). Adding the display device makes this even better! I can check anytime I want to see how I'm doing at expending calories etc. It helps motivate me to see if I can match or beat the calorie burn from previous days, and I can do that without having to take my GoWear fit off.
I finally feel like I can track my goals and progress without having to "work" so hard just to track exercises, food and goals in separate places. I don't ever have time to do all that nonsense and this device with the website practically does all the work for me.
Customer Review: WORTH EVERY PENNY INCL WEBSITE! LIFE USER! GET IT! Summary: 5 Stars
I have never written a review because nothing has excited me as much as the GoWear Fit! I got it 7 days ago and begin to wear it. Because my health is a worthy investment, I bought the armband, display AND $6.95/month subscription, which is all cheaper than my contract with my gym. The armband and display is a one-time fee and $6.95/month is what some folks pay for a fast food breakfast meal EVERYDAY and that's not even good for them; but this is!
I LOST 5 lbs my first week using the GoWear! Its ingenious technology with the display let's you know if you're on target for weight loss or gain with "the touch of a button" 24/7. Instant feedback! Because you know your targets for calories in and calories burned, you can adjust at anytime to reduce your intake of calories or burn more in order to make your caloric deficit for the day.
Example: If you want to lose 2 lbs a week, you would have a daily goal that could look like this:
Calories consumed: 1500
Calorie burn: 2500
Result: 1000 deficit
(1000 daily deficit) x 7 days = 7000 deficit/week
7000/3500 (calories in a pound) = 2 lbs lost for the week
Easy peasy! The GoWear also motivates me to WANT to move daily. After using it for a week, I now have a great idea of the amount of activity I need to do each day and how important caloric intake is. Also, I used to HATE food logging, but now I can't wait to log in what I eat to ensure I'm not consuming more than my daily target. And, if I did, I know how much more I have to move to burn up the extra calories.
Another great factor is the sleep efficiency feedback. I now adjust my day better in order to reach my target sleep goal. After all of that working out your body needs time to recover so that you have energy to keep going. Also, proper and adequate sleep reduces stress, which also leads to better health.
If you are serious about not deluding yourself anymore about how much you really eat and how much you really burn, buy this fitness tool TODAY! You will learn your body and also learn WHY you had not met your goals to date.
If you are already fit, but want to increase your activity level, it has an option for that also.
Because of my success and excitement with GoWear, five friends have ordered it! Now, we can all shrink together. I will update my review and progress when I reach my goal in 3-4 months.
Customer Review: Great device Summary: 5 Stars
I have been wearing my Go Wear Fit armband for about 10 days now. It works perfectly and I am learning a lot about how many calories my body burns in motion and at rest. I am very knowledgeable about diet and fitness but being in my 40s the old diet tricks aren't working anymore and now I am learning precisely how many calories a particular kind of workout burns and seeing whether I am working hard enough (the "mets" feature).
The armband is comfortable even for sleeping and isn't really visible through clothes and definitely keeps me motivated - I don't like to see those fever charts flatlining where I burn one calorie per minute sitting at my desk. I also like that you don't have to "do" anything to get it to work (ie lots of typing in your food, etc.) -- it just goes along and records what you are doing. You can get the calories you are eating from the software -- it holds three days worth -- but I just look at what I am expending and keep track of food elsewhere. In fact Amazon has a really nice spiral bound food tracker journal that I bought -- I love that too and it was only $10.
The only thing I have struggled with was getting the device off the armband to plug it into the computer for my first use (it's not hard but the instructions are a bit lacking), and I also discovered the wireless feature for communicating with the computer doesn't exist yet. However, customer service wrote back the same day (a Sunday) when I emailed asking why I couldn't figure how to do it. (This feature is coming at some point.)
Finally - I just received the watchband display today (order them together here - you get the display for just $30)and it is simple to use and will allow me to see my calorie burn as the day goes on and also number of steps taken. It was ok plugging the device into the computer at night and waiting to see how I did for the day, but the deal was too good to pass up to get the display (it looks like a watch and also has a time setting so you can use it as one) and it might motivate me to walk more during the day.
Anyway - I really recommend this. This isn't the cheapest way to go but it was the right choice for me, and at the end of the day it costs the same as just a couple personal training sessions. I hope some day they add a heart monitor to it as well. But in the meantime I am very pleased and motivated to follow a fitness/nutrition program for the first time in a long while!
Customer Review: Takes The Guesswork out of Diet and Exercise Summary: 4 Stars
I'm the one who's been watching 8 seasons of The Biggest Loser who said, "This time I'm going to do it" and started and failed with diet and exercise. To be fair to myself, I've lost 110 lbs and kept 74 of the lbs off for the last 5 years but I wanted to finally get them all off and just be consistent.
I've been using the GoWear Fit armband for three days now, after researching it for 2 years now (it is expensive and I needed to know that I got it for the best price and that it would work for me). As a member of 24 Hour Fitness I dreamed about having a Bodybugg but the gym membership was a stretch and paying $300.00 for the armband and display and then a monthly fee to manage record and review my calorie intake and burn online was too expensive. I bought the GoWear Fit vs. the Bodybugg because BodyMedia (who manufactures both products), upgraded their online activity manager to include the online nutrition center. Here online I can not only record what I eat but if I have specific recipes (like the Biggest Loser 30 Day Jumpstart recipes, I can type them in (most recipes are family size) and then the nutrition manager saves it and automatically calculates the calories in my single serving - sweet! I enter it in once and it is there every time I record it. If I use a product not in the database I "create food" and type in the name of the product and the nutional analysis on the label and it saves the info and it becomes a choice for me to record.
This has helped me to be exact about what I take in and the armband tells me what I've burned so I know on a daily basis what I have to do. You can also program up to 6 online reminders (reminding me to drink my water or to go and exercise) and this helps me to be more consistent. Buying it on Amazon meant I got 3 months of the susbscription service for free (vs. 1 month from 24 hr Fitness). Note: (had a mixup with my promotion code but they are solving that for me)and I got it for $40.00 cheaper than buying a Bodybugg and I did not have to pay tax (another $25.00 saving).
I also noticed that some people who reached their target weight after a few months then offered them for sale on ebay. If money was really a big part of your decision making process, maybe that could be factored into your analysis.
I will let you know more about the longterm benefits of the product as I use it in the months ahead.
