I have very blonde eyelashes and don't like to go out without at least a little mascara on. I also camp, kayak, hike - outdoorys stuff that isn't always convenient to apply/remove/clean up mascara, (or cool!!....my camper friends make fun of me; I don't care). So for years I have gotten my eyelashes dyed before vacations. It's great; don't have to think about it, off we go. Recently spas in my area (W. WA) have stopped dying lashes - new laws or regulations about too much potential danger to the eyes --- so I was excited to try this product.
Welllll......
Pros:
1. Comes as complete kit with everything you need to do the job.
2. It does dye your lashes; almost instantly. Follow instructions and whatever the activator and gel touch will be dyed (eyelashes, eyelids, fingers, sink--everything).
3. The kit includes enough product for multiple applications - which you'll need in order to practice a few times to learn how to use it.
Cons:
1. It is very difficult to use. Have tried several rounds of dying, trying to get the knack of it and basically can get a bit on the top row of lashes, but the bottom lashes are hardly touched and the corner lashes are almost completely untouched. This leaves me with a nicely dyed section in the middle of my top lashes with the rest blonde. Not a good look.
2. The included pads used to put under the eye to protect the skin need to be cut way down to fit under the eyes and don't stick very well, even when glopped with Vaseline, as advised in the instructions, so some staining happens which takes a few days to wear off. I'm not sure what wide-eyed alien species these pads were designed for but I had to cut and reshape them by half for use (perhaps I'm a tad beady-eyed).
3. I tried using the included applicator sticks, and also an eyelash brush, and an eyeshadow brush - trying to find a better way to control the application of the dye and still could not get full coverage.
So --- it sort of works. Nothing to the extent of a salon but it is certainly not as easy or effective as described on the package.
