Customer Reviews of Headblade Sport Ultimate Head Shave, 1 razor

Customer Review: It works
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been shaving my head for about 3 years now. I decided to give the HeadBlade a try to see if it would work better than the 5 blade razor I had been using. It worked better then I thought it would, and definitely took some getting used to. Time spent with the HeadBlade vs. the previous razor dropped in half after using it a few times. My advice to anybody who wants to try it: read the instructions and don't rush

Customer Review: Fun novelty, not the closest shave
Summary: 3 Stars

I was both hesitant and optimistic after reading the Headblade reviews on Amazon. Optimistic because there were a lot of positive reviews; hesitant because the negative reviews seemed to be written much more thoughtfully than the positive ones (several positive reviews were written by spouses of Headblade users, others were in the ballpark of 'headblade rulez').

After using a Mach 3, I decided to give the Headblade Sport a try. The novelty is a lot of fun, and appeals to the gadget-lover in me. It felt really cool to slip the little yellow race-car on my finger and start head-mowing.

If, aside from the fun factor, the most imporant things that one would want out of the Headblade are closeness of shave, time saved, and ease of use, here are my observations:

Closeness: The shave is somewhat close, but the Mach 3 most definitely shaved closer. I took the Mach 3 to my head immediately after shaving thoroughly with the Headblade, and the Mach took it noticeably closer.

Time: If you only want a good-enough shave (getting pretty close but not as close as you could, and leaving a few stubbly spots in the crevices), then you can shave your head pretty quickly with the Headblade--maybe five minutes or less with practice.

Ease: The "slicking the hair back" motion of the Headblade is fun and novel, but I'm not sure if it's really much easier than a Mach 3 (I could do long, broad strokes with a standard razor just as easily as with the Headblade). Once you account for cleaning up the crevices and tricky areas that the Headblade isn't going to get on a quick pass, it's probably not going to be any easier than using a Mach 3--in fact, you may find it to be more difficult.

I'm now using a Gillette Fusion, which is the closest shave (and least amount of irritation) that I've found for my head. If you want a really close and complete shave, you'll probably agree, and steer away from the Headblade. If, however, you're looking for a tool to give you a decent (but flawed) shave fairly quickly, then you may really like this sporty little razor.

Customer Review: HeadBlade Wins!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

After several bad experiences with conventional razors, I gave up and settled for "clipper-close". After researching HeadBlade and reading the reviews, I went to my local retailer and bought the HeadBlade Sport, the tripleblade replacement pack and the HeadSlick menthol shave cream. After a nice hot bath and good scrubbing to exfoliate the skin, I lathered up. Careful to follow the instructions on pressure-placement and technique (with the grain for first 5 uses), I got zero razorburn and absolutely zero nicks. Also, I got a closer shave than I have ever gotten to my scalp. I think the key is to watch the instructional video on the HeadBlade site, exfoliate the scalp and rinse the blade after each stroke.
Woulda given more stars if available.

Customer Review: Great Head Shave
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great product for shaving the head. It nearly eliminates the nicks and cuts the standard razor tends to produce. The wheels in the back of the device help to keep the blades at the correct angle for a great shave every time.

Customer Review: Why didn't I think of this?
Summary: 5 Stars

If you shave your head regularly, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't have this in your bathroom. It's such a novel concept, but something so intuitive, you wonder why you didn't come up with it yourself. Anyone that has trouble with it is probably putting way too much effort into learning it. It really should not be that hard. I just imagine myself rubbing gel through my slicked-back hair. lol. It allows me to feel with my other hand where I've been and where I need to go. And that's essential for the back of the head where you can't see. The wheels may seem to have only been added just for the sake of design but they do serve a purpose. I believe they're the most important part of the HeadBlade. Gently resting them on your head allows you glide without much pressure. Too much pressure causes bumps, cuts, and razor burn. I hardly get those now. And the razorblade HeadBlade provides is outstanding. I'm well into my 2nd month using the same razor and my head is just as clean-shaven as the first day. I highly recommend this.
