Customer Review: Much potential...
Summary: 2 Stars

I really wanted to like this scale. After I received it, I inserted the batteries and gave it a shot. Fairly consistent results each weighing. The back lit display is especially nice and bright.

But then I sat down and started reading the manual, trying to actually program it. Both of the buttons under the screen were working exactly the same. It was as if they were stuck together, pressing the same contact on the circuit board inside. I'd hold either one down and it would start blinking to set the time and date, but all I could do was cursor through the options. It was impossible to actually increment the numbers.

I frustratingly jabbed the button down as hard as I could, short of actually breaking it, down and at an angle. Sure enough, a couple digits incremented, but not without also moving around from hour to minute to month, and so on.

Greatly irritated, I unscrewed the base (no doubt voiding the warranty -- and any hope of returning it), determined to fix it. I attempted to re-seat the buttons, but I gave up when there was no immediate improvement from my fiddling. I'm not done, however. I'm fairly certain I can fix this thing. Luckily, I have some basic electronics background. You may not. :P

I'm not sure how to rate the item; others were happy with their purchase, yet mine is unusable at the moment except for basic weighing. Most likely, I merely got a defective scale, of course. I love how this thing feels, and I'm sure if I had a good, working product it would be just dandy.

Use your judgment.

Customer Review: Great Scale
Summary: 5 Stars

This scale delivers what it promises.
I will say that setup is not as easy as it could be. However, if you read the instructions CLOSELY, you'll be fine. I had a false start, thought the scale didn't work, but then re-read the instructions, and followed each step closely, and everything was fine.
Very accurate, measures to within ounces of what the gym scale measures. And it is consistent. Step off, step on, it'll read the same every time.
I really like the goal setting, I've set a modest goal for weight loss, and it is amazing how motivating that can be. It tells me the difference between yesterday and today, and tells me how many pounds I've lost so far, and how far I have to go to get to my goal.

The body fat estimation seems to be consistent, but will vary slightly with how dry your feet are. I wiped the bottom of my feet with a moist paper towel, and then it is very consistent. That feature depends on having an excellent conduction between you and the scale. By the way, the body fat analysis matches fairly close to a calculated one using body measurements.

Easily the best buy I could find, at $32.00, and free shipping. It replaced an analog scale that was a piece of junk. Stay away from those.

Customer Review: Bells and Whistles
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using the scale for a week. Athough I think it lies, it lies consistantly which makes it easier to track my weight loss process. lol. I love the bells and whistles.

It took a minute to figure out how to get the most accurrate reading, but you can.

I was told to weigh always first thing in the morning. With this scale that is not a good idea. Weighting before your've done any activity gives you a really high body fat and hydration reading. It makes since because most muscles in the body are relaxed and have been using body fluids to repair themselves while you sleep. I've notice that when I weigh at the end of the day, after all the exercising is done and meals are well digested, I get the most accurate readings of body fat, hydration, and weight. I say accurate because it matched the results I got at the doctor's office earlier the same day.

I see two draw back with this scale so far.
1. It does not prove the body fat and hydration information unless the person is programed in.
2. It incourges weighing too often by showing the changes in percent of body fat and hydration.

I want to know so I look everyday. lol.

Customer Review: Fat monitoring is ridiculous
Summary: 2 Stars

Decent scale, the weighing seems fairly consistent with my old scale once you break it in. Profiles, saving, and especially scrolling through saves is a bit frustrating, time lags while you wait for it to reset each time get quite annoying, and if you want to go back and forth there's no way other than going all the way around again.

The body fat monitoring is a total crock. I measured myself this morning and had a reading of 47.7%. I'm 5'7", weigh 142 lb, and the number keeps going up as I've been losing a few pounds and building muscle while dieting. Stepping on it four times gives four completely different numbers, all out of left field. In fact it seems to be much higher if I'm dehydrated compared to well-hydrated. It's basically a random number that just measures how much water you drink, and it's a well known problem among this form of measuring.

I bought this pricier scale (at the time) specifically because it was marketed as a body fat monitor for me and my wife, and I'm never buying into Health-o-Meter's scamvertizing again. They've lost me as a future customer for certain.

Customer Review: Good for the Price.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good weighing machine for the price. I saw reviews saying that its bad and it shows weights that vary within seconds and stuff, But when ever I weigh my self I saw thats accurate to the 10th of a pound. Its how ever very sensitive to the bodyfat%. I think it either too accurate or it doesnt work toowell. For example if you weigh yourself and have a 20% fat at 150lb drink some soda or something hop back on it shows a difference right away with a 32%fat and 150.2lb. If you care too much about the body fat% with this product make sure that you get the reading early inthe morning before breakfast for best results and see that this is pretty constant over a week. The four storage buttons and the set your goal features are good. I have tested to see if it stores these results if the battery dies down and it did.

The only complaint I have with this Machine is the buttons that you use to set the time. Some times they are too sticky (Its not that I put sticky stuff/trash on it) making it tough to work with.
