Customer Reviews of Health o Meter BFM588DQ-81 Body Fat and Hydration Percentage Fitness Scale, Champagne, (Weighs up to 375lbs)Customer Review: Good Luck Getting Consistent Results... Summary: 1 Stars
My wife and I are disappointed at this product on a daily basis.
If we measure our weight (one after the other), this scale simply CANNOT give an accurate reading.
**Here's an example**
My 1st reading: 198.6. I step off, my wife steps on 10 seconds later.
Her 1st reading: 128.2 She steps off, I step on 10 seconds later.
My 2nd reading: 200.2. Huh? I step off...
Her 2nd reading: 130.4. (Now my wife is PISSED!)
Lol...this scale is absolutely terrible.
Even when I way myself 3-4 times in a row, I get readings that vary by 1 pound or more.
It simply cannot handle multiple people's weight.
And forget about Body fat analysis. One second I'm 35% body fat, the next I'm 30%.
I'm talking seconds, here. Not different hours of the day.
Stay far away. We're ready to buy an analog scale along with the Omron Handheld body fat analyzer.
At least I can calibrate the analog scales with some weights I have lying around. :)
Customer Review: The best scale ever Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this scale for a few years now and it is the absolute best. It is easy to program easy to read and accurate. As the other reviewer indicated, you can easily account for weight fluctuations from day to day by tracking your hydration levels. It is nice to know your fat % as well and it helps to keep motivation up when you see the numbers go down.
You get the whole picture with this scale. It even tracks your weight so you know how much you are up or down, which I find helpful. Another great thing is that the batteries last forever - and when you do change them, it doesn't wipe your data out... it must have an internal backup battery which is helpful because you don't lose your history. I will be buying my mom this scale for Christmas as she watches her weight and will enjoy having this tool to help her in those efforts. I'd recommend this product 100%. Very durable (my kids push the buttons often) and holds up to lots of use. Now if it would only lie to me about the pounds....
Customer Review: Nice design but not reliable Summary: 4 Stars
The scale has a nice design, I like the iluminated color display very much as it ensures good readability.
If you read the manual first it's easy to do the setup. You can set it up to KG or LB with a switch on the backside.
Unfortunately the first value shown is not correct in many cases, it shows 0.3kg less than the real weight. You have to step of and wait until it's switched off and then repeat the measurement. The second measurement is always identical with all followed measurements. As you have the proceedure every time you want to check your weight I rate it with 4 stars only.
The fat measurement is more a gadget as descriped in many other reviews. If you want to use the fat measurement check it after you had your shower, this provides the most reliable value. This is not a problem of this scale, this is caused by the way the measurement is done and is valid for all scales like this.
Customer Review: Fairly accurate Summary: 4 Stars
When I bought this scale, I already had another to use in comparing its results.
I was quite surprised that the scale would produce precise results as far as weight is concerned. It reads slightly heavier than both the other scales I used. One of them was a physician's scale.
The body fat analyzer leaves much to be desired. You can step on it once and get an answer that won't line up anywhere close to what you'll get five minutes later. Both numbers are far off. I think the technology is too sensitive to be accurate.
The body water analyzer is decently accurate. I benchmarked it against one at my health club. However, it also suffers from the same lack of precision as the body fat analyzer.
Customer Review: But it's more like 4 1/2 Summary: 5 Stars
I'm really pleased with this product after only a week or so of having it. Setting the scale up was easy if you follow the instructions, but then you get the hang of it. Setting up profiles is done the same way as setting up the scale in general. Very sleek look and very stable, no creaking as you step on it.
Only slight problem that isn't even a huge deal would be waking it up. You have to slightly step on it for it to wake up and calibrate, but that's about it. Same goes for the profiles too, having to wait a little for it to wake up. The body fat percentage also seems to jump around a bit, but I use it mainly for tracking weight.
Other than that, I would recommend this scale because it does what it says.
