Customer Reviews of Health o Meter Physician Balance Beam ScaleCustomer Review: Junk this scale Summary: 1 Stars
This is one of the worst products I have ever purchased. We received the product and the scale was 3 lbs off. We called the company and told them the problem. the person on the phone basically insinuated that we were the problem. After much haggling they agreed to send us another base. Lo and behold when the new base came the scale still did not work. We tried everything. Being such a large and cumbersome item there is really no practical way to send this back so we are stuck with this product that does not work. it is ridiculous in this day and age where a company cannot get their act together and ship something that is going to work. you would do well to scratch this vendor from your list. I will not use amazon again. at least if I buy a piece of junk from a local store I can bring it back and get a refund. in odering through amazon I have none.
Customer Review: Confidence in Your Weight Loss Summary: 4 Stars
Slow and steady wins the race where weight loss is concerned, but if you're aiming to lose between one half and three pounds per week and your cheap bathroom scale changes plus or minus 5 pounds every time you step on it, it's hard to know how you're doing, and too easy to get discouraged.
This scale is accurate and repeatable, it has markings in kilograms and pounds, and weighs up to 500 pounds in quarter pound increments. All this with no batteries to replace. This is one case where digital is not better.
The one drawback is its size, which may or may not be an issue depending on the size of your bathroom. Also, some minor assembly is required, and mine arrived accidentally unhooked at the top, which the installation instructions didn't address. However, since then, I've had no mechanical issues whatsoever.
Customer Review: Big disappointment Summary: 5 Stars
Mine came well boxed and in perfect condition. The assembly instructions are not clear. It took some doing to get the hook in the upright into the catch in the base. Assembly tool worked OK
Once assembled it looked fine. Adjusted it per instruction.
Had my wife's weight off ... about 10 pounds.
Balance beam has weight settings at 50 pound intervals but the sliding scale at top has range of only 20 pounds. If you weigh, say, 180 pounds there seems to be no way to wet it!
It weighed me about 15 pounds light. Can't believe a product would go out the door of a good manufacturer. I am about to call their 800 number but based on other reviews I don't expect much help.
Summary: A bargain isn't a bargain if the product doesn't work. OH: Every time I checked one star the Amazon site changed it back to 5 !
Customer Review: Disappointed with Condition after shipping Summary: 3 Stars
Regarding the product itself, it is all that I expected it to be. It works fine (Except that it indicates that Im too short for my weight! LOL)
However, on a serious note, I was disappointed with the condition of it when it arrived. The shipping box had no visible signs of damage, and the packing material inside the box that forms around the product was intact and undamaged. Regardless, there was a dent in the column half way up and one of the mounting bolts that attach the column to the base was bent in such a fashion that I could not attach it.
For practical purposes, I simply repaired the displaced bolt with a pair of plyers. The dent half way up the column is a cosmetic thing I will have to live with. It is annoying to purchase something new and have it arrive blemished.
Customer Review: Assembly Problem Summary: 4 Stars
Apparently during shipping, the mechanism inside the vertical column was jammed so that one could not connect that mechanism to the base. After several conversations with technical support persons who were very familiar with the scale, I finally got the mechanism freed and hooked up. When using this scale, one must stand very far forward to the point that the toes are hanging over the front edge of the platform. I just can't believe that this scale is of the same quality as similar models of this brand found in your Family doc's office. I began to wonder if the scale wasn't a Chinese knock off product. But is seems to be fairly accurate in that a 50 pound dumbbell weighs in at 50.5 pounds. Not worth returning for these issues. I just wouldn't buy it knowing what I know now.
