I tried everything - black cohash, soy supplements, yam cremes, teas and pills - you name it, I tried it. Nothing eliminated my severe hot flashes - the kind that have you sweating buckets at night and giving you nausea and keeping you awake so you can't get a good night sleep. For years. I had early menopause at age 42, eight years ago.
And then four years ago I tried these - a special Soy Isoflavin supplement from Johnson and Johnson. The difference was absolutely amazing. No more hot flashes. No more night sweats. Within a month the frequency of my hot flashes had decreased to less than one a week. Within 2 months they were gone completely.
I had thought that after a few years I might be able to stop taking these pills, but the truth is every time I try to stop taking them - or even cut back - the hot flashes return. That tells me that these pills are truly what is keeping them away. It's just unfortunate that I will probably end up taking these pills for the rest of my life. But it's much better than the alternatives.
I just wish they came in regular bottles instead of the stupid bubble-blister packs, and that they weren't quite so expensive (or that they were covered by my insurance - because if there is ever a medicine that should be prescribed it is this one!).
If you are suffering, I urge you to try these before you give up and take cancer-and-heart-attack-causing estrogen or continue to suffer health-debilitating hot flashes.
