I initially bought this product because I live with a loud roommate. Her alarm clock would go off early in the morning, two hours before I wanted to get up, so I resorted to this. It took me about a week to learn how to use it correctly, and when I used it, it worked wonderfully. The problem is that I move a lot while I'm sleep, so sometimes I'd still wake to her alarm, because one ear plug would fall out while I was sleep. But the times it stayed, it worked well. It doesn't necessarily give you complete silence, but the volume is greatly decreased.
