Customer Reviews of Helen Of Troy Hotspa Professional Ultimate Foot BathCustomer Review: Excellent product! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't normally write reviews, but after my experience with this product, I just had to write a review. I didn't order this product from Amazon, but I used the reviews as a guide for which foot bath to buy. When my order arrived, the company had actually shipped me a wrong model. It was a blue model that advertized O3 and an aromatherapy dispenser. I exchanged it, but before exchanging it, I tested it out to make sure it was the wrong model and not just a company redesign of the product.
Let me say that this is such an excellent product. The foot bath heats the water from cold and it gets pretty darn hot. I put in room temperature water and by the 15 minute mark, it was getting so hot that I started to feel dry sweats. This heat is not unbearable, but I would compare it to the level of heat one would set on a jacuzzi. The product is pretty loud as some have claimed, and reducing the sound by turning off the bubbles is an option, but not really. There are 3 buttons, 1 for vibration and the little red light thing that heats up your sole, 1 is for bubbles and water heat, and 1 is for the water jets. The bubbles and water heat is the main sound issue, and turning that off will no longer heat the water. If anyone has a pool, or live next to someone with a pool, the sound level sounds about at the level of hearing the pool heater from the other side of a wall inside your house... at least that's how my pool heater sounds like.
Overall, excellent product. When my feet come out it's very very silky smooth. Improvements to this product would be to make a button for each feature so that each one can be turned on and off independently, though despite that, I still give it 5 stars. There are many improvements that can be made on this product to make it better, but no other product exists at the moment. So until that product comes out, this is the only foot bath massager you'll ever need.
Customer Review: Not what I expected, but fair Summary: 3 Stars
What I got and what I expected are pretty different. In the end, it does the job I need it, but not the job I wanted it to do.
What I expected was a basin that warms and cycles water and that has gadgets that massage feet in the unit. I got the first half, but not the second.
My product warms water very well. Having read other reviews, I expected to need to start with warm water. This unit takes water from the low 60s (F) to over a hundred in just a few minutes. Leaving it running for 10 minutes has burned my feet (red and tender for a few hours). As it warms so gradually, it's easy to get acclimated to temperatures that would normally be uncomfortable or unhealthy. For a 30-minute soak, I usually run it for 2-4 minutes at a time, with equal time not running it. I would prefer that it be able to dial in to and maintain a temperature, but it doesn't.
Also, I expected the various massage attachments to move. They move if you move them. And, the ones that go underneath the arches of your feet really don't do much. I've removed all of the attachments, because I think they're just in the way.
The basin is shallower than I would like as well. Where my heals sit is only about 0.5 inches of water (~1.25 cm), if filled to the "MAX" line showing how much water to use. Filling more than this results in water coming out of the basin into floor. I wish it had a little more water capacity to soak up to my ankes.
So, don't get this product thinking that you're getting anything more than a water heater that cycles water. It says "ozone" on it, so maybe it's doing some sanitization as well, which might be an underappreciated perk. However, if you're in the market that heats and cycles water, this product does indeed do those things.
Customer Review: Very Relaxing Summary: 5 Stars
I spent a great deal of time researching the best product to buy. I am very pleased with this buy because the water gets hot and it is relaxing. I was not as fond of the vibrating option. The jet option is nice, but be prepared for splashing. Also, the jets are only at the front; it would have been nice to have a set in the back as well. I mainly use the water heat up option. To me, the pedicure attachments are not necessary.
If I were to improve the product, I'd provide a storage area for the foot attachments. Currently there is just storage for the pedicure features. Also, I'd make it easier to empty. If it were to have a plug feature, I woudln't have to turn the device upside down. Turning it causes the pedicure attachments to fall out. I couldn't operate the buttons with my toes/feet, but maybe others can. This wasn't a big deal because I just bend to turn on the device.
I would probably use it more if it were easier to empty and clean, but overall, I am very happy with this product because it does what I wanted it to do - relieve my aching feet and relax me. It is rather noisy, but I can easily read or turn up the volume while it's on. To me, it was worth the price.
Customer Review: Best foot bath on the market - at any price! Summary: 5 Stars
I looked for several weeks. None of the others offer the ability to actually heat the water, believe it or not. Most Reviews of the other units complain about loss of heat very quickly. This one gets good and hot, too! Massage attachments on any of these are a bit useless, in my opinion -- I'd prefer a handheld unit for that because it's awkward to reach any parts of the foot where the attachment point is located (the little round thing in the middle). And the options fall off too easily. But the real work-horse part -- the foot bath, bubbler, water-jet massage, and the heater -- works great! Highly-recommended over units costing as high as $200, elsewhere. Look for other deals at Amazon to see if this unit is offered with free extras (sometimes it is). Let's face it, these bubblers make some noise. Just turn the TV up. It's not that bad. Easy to clean. Seems very rugged in build quality. This one -- like most of them -- cautions you against standing up in the unit because they are not designed to support your full body weight. I bought this to help heal bruised tendons in the bottoms of my feet (too many remodeling chores). And I feel much better after using it.
Customer Review: An expensive paperweight Summary: 1 Stars
Let's start off with the misleading product reviews. Apparently the seller changed the item they sold from one that heats the water to a cheaper product that doesn't heat the water. It is now just "Keep Warm Heat." They didn't remove the glowing reviews however, and if you're not careful, you'll think you are ordering the better unit. The majority of the reviews for this product are for a product that is not actually being sold. I'm pretty sure that's not how product reviews are supposed to work.
Not only that, but the downgraded product doesn't even do what it is is actually supposed to do - "Keep Warm Heat." I put hot water into it, ran the product, and ended up with cold water and cold feet. And the three spa attachments don't stay on. Apply a little pressure from your foot (as directed) and they pop right off and fly across the room.
So I paid for a product based on reviews for a different product, and ended up with a paperweight that doesn't even work as well as the standard bathtub that came free with my house. And this product is significantly pricier than its competitors.
Don't waste your money.
