Customer Review: Love It!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is such a great product, I just love it. It's not like the one's with the metal balls that dig into your back (I have one of those too and I also love it, but this is a very different kind of product), this is a comfy and relaxing chair that is perfect for bed (great when you're reading) or you can put up against a coffee table (great for watching TV if you sit on the floor - and also great if you play video games).

The arms fold down and the back stays up when there is no pressure, but when you are using it, it definitely needs to be pressed up against something as it will not support you on its own. It's so cool though, there's even a little drink holder in the armrest. The chair is great (and so comfortable) with or without the massage on. The massage is activated by pressing a conveniently located button on the armrest. It's really more like a nice soothing (quiet) vibration running over your back while you read, watch TV, play games, meditate or just sit quietly and relax.

I love this chair; my mom and I actually bought them for each other for Christmas (so we each have one) and we bought one for my sister-in-law too! I use mine a lot and my mom uses hers every day!

Customer Review: Sometimes less is more, give or take
Summary: 4 Stars

First, the cup holder is gratuitous and disappointing. I guess I understand where they where going with the feature incase it where for use where no surface exists for a drink, but its more uncomfortable than convenient. I just popped my stress koosh in there and now its fine. But maybe they could have forgone the cup holder for the next issue:

Second, apparently the engineers at Homedics are Leprechauns. I'm 5'10" (much to my own dismay, cursed genetics) and the headrest is more like a mid-shoulder brace. The very top of the headrest falls between my shoulder blades. It's disappointing, but I wrapped my travel neck pillow around the top and presto, I'm satisfied-it's better than a stack of tumbling pillows.

So, if you're 5'9" or shorter this is a great buy (I'm sure that would solve both the cup holder placement and neck rest height issue). No offense to you height challenged folks, but if you're an average height and stop gap measures like stress kooshes and neck pillows aren't you're cup of tea, then I suggest you try another product.

Customer Review: It's okay
Summary: 3 Stars

This backrest is made of nice firm material, and covered with a nice faux suede fabric. It seems pretty high quality, should be fairly durable. It's nice how it folds up -- although even folded, it's still a bulky item.

I found that the backrest was too "upright" for my taste. It might be perfect for doing paperwork, working on a laptop, breakfast in bed, etc. But just for bedtime reading, I prefer reclining to sitting. This bedrest doesn't really allow reclining. The uprightness is emphasized in my situation since we have a really soft bed (waveless waterbed), so sitting upright I kind of sink into the bed but the backrest does not.

The massager provides a vibrating massage in the lower back area. I really need a firm kneading massage in the neck/shoulder area, so it doesn't do much for me. But it might be just right for others.

Customer Review: So-so at best.

I'm trying to be objective and review this item fairly. It looked bigger in the picture and while there may have been dimensions listed, It was hard to tell. What I mean by this is... I am an average size man (5'11")... the cupholder ends up being located directly under my forearm... not realistic to use in that location. The arms are short... maybe 12 inches and lastly the "headrest" does a wonderful job supporting my upperback and maybe a little of my neck. The vibrating massage "mechanism" is hard and uncomfortable against my lower back... in the on or off position. It is made of good quality material.

All in all it would probably be great for someone who is 5'2" or smaller... it's more child-size.

Sorry HoMedics... I wanted to give you a good review... I really did.
