My massage mat arrived in the original box however the massage mat itself, at least according to other reviewers, was not inside a plastic bag. When I took the massage mat out it had dog fur on it. I'm still not sure if I received a returned (used) product. But it definitely had strands of hair from a dog. Also the AC cord is usually neatly tied together, mine was not. One positive was the chemical smell that other reviewers had mentioned was not as strong as I was expecting. Probably because the previous owner of this used product aired it out for me. So I guess I should say thank you to the previous owner of this massage mat. Thank you.
One positive was the massage mat does work well. It only vibrates, so if your looking for a shiatsu massage you'll have to look elsewhere. The strength of the vibration was pretty strong. Other reviewers had mentioned it was weak, but I disagree. And if you turn on all 5 vibrating zones, the strength of the vibration does weaken, however if you turn it on high it's still fairly strong. I put this massage mat on a zero gravity chair and my lower back pain is gone. Now all I need is a foot massager and I'll be in heaven.
The dog fur aside, it is a really good product. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking to relax after a long day of work.

Got this for my husband for Valentine's and I think I use it more than him. It's almost 6 feet long, so it massages your whole body. An attached handheld controller lets you increase or decrease the speed of the massage cycle as well as the strength of the massage. You can choose the style of massage you want: I like the steady and the circular; my husband prefers the side-to-side (there's also tapping and traveling). It also applies heat when pressure is applied to the massage cushion -- it won't heat up areas that you aren't pushing down on with your body. It doesn't overheat, either -- it's just right. My only complaint is that while it does fold up tidily, with an attached strap, it's still a bit bulky to conveniently fit beneath the bed. Don't know what that reviewer from Buffalo, NY, is complaining about, though... this thing has done wonders for me (currently pregnant and very achy) and my husband (who works several jobs). I suffer from minor back pains and go to chiropractor and do stretching exercises. I thought this product might be good for home to relax my muscles. But when I plugged it in and laid down on it I was disappointed. Its just a vibrator if you ask me, but if you are thinking about easing or relaxing your back FORGET IT. I am surprised to see people's praise for this product, seriously I advice that you try one of those expensive chair massagers or better go to a chiropractor and then maybe you will redefine the meaning of phrase "back relief". If this product relieves you of anything its your dollars (although not much).Customer Review: itchy and smelly!!!

I am in school for massage and I wanted to have some at home relief from constantly using my back muscles. This massager does provide some relief, but it does NOT feel even close to a real massage. The heat is weak, and the pad smells like chemicals, and makes my skin itchy. After sitting on the pad for 10 minutes or so, my back does feel relaxed, but I am all itchy and my clothes smell!!! I would not order this online unless you know someone with it so you can try it out. except when you lie on this puppy...It has a nice built in shut off so you can use it to fall asleep and not worry. A little short for me, but I can't fit in an airline seat either. For an avg size person it should cover the whole body.
I give it 5 stars for what it does...the only reason I gave it 4 is that it is packed in the smelliest plastic that permeates the product. They say to "air" it out for 24 hours...more like a week for the smell to totally go away.
