Customer Reviews of HoMedics FM-CR Foot Pleaser Foot Massager

Customer Review: Unbelievably poor product
Summary: 1 Stars

This may very well be the worst product I've ever purchased. It was bad to the extent that I will probably never again purchase a Homedics product. I previously owned a foot massager (not Homedics) with water jets, etc., that did a decent job of relieving my foot, heel and arch pain. The problem was that it decided to spring a leak one day and made a huge mess. I decided to try this product because I didn't want to get involved in the water situation again. I wasn't that concerned with the speed of the massagers slowing down when I put my feet on them. The speed of them was inconsequential as long as they were at least moving. About 20 minutes after I started using it, I realized that the infrared function on the left side of the unit had stopped working. I tried to turned it off and on a few times and then I let it sit awhile, but it wouldn't come back on. Later, after I had the unit turned off for a couple of hours, I tried to turn it on again and NOTHING worked except the right side's infrared. The left side's infrared AND the massagers were no longer operating. I have never experienced a product that was made so poorly that it ceased to function after less than an hour of usage. On the plus side, I thought that the Amazon return process was extremely easy and customer-friendly. I requested a refund on this product. There is no way I'd try another one after this experience.

Customer Review: Performs as advertised

First, a disclaimer. Everyone's body is a bit different and people are going to use products like this in varying ways. Some are going to use it wrong. Some are going to put too much weight on this and perhaps break it. Still others will bring inappropriate expectations.

I have persistent plantar fasciitis in my left arch at the insertion point near the heel. In other words, I suffer from an achy left foot. I employ a number of means to keep the foot pain down. I use ice and often just a tennis ball. But this Homedics foot massager definitely helps increase the circulation in my foot and reduces the pain in my arch. In short, it gets the job done.

My lone complaint is that there isn't a way built into the massager to keep your foot from moving around. Having the two pairs of balls rotate is contrary directions helps some, but I wish there had been an adjustable heel holder. Perhaps that was not practical in the design. Still, having to focus in keeping my foot in place and not being able to focus exclusively on the massage is a bit of a bummer.

All in all, with the initial disclaimer in mind, I strongly recommend this foot massager. Especially for fellow sufferers from plantar fasciitis.

Customer Review: Stopped Working Within 2 hours & Dangerous!

My first impression was that it was a little akward to position my foot to get the right pressure on the right spot. It's a bit of a challenge to keep your foot in the perfect position. It did feel good and provided some relief.

I used it barefoot and was unable to feel much heat from the infrared. The instructions recommend socks. With socks on the infrared heat is non-existent.

The product died on the first night. The instructions say that it might overheat if over used and to let it rest. The instructions also say it is designed so that you cannot turn on the infrared without the motor for safety reasons. But when the motor burned out the infrared stays on. So not only did it fail on the first night, it left the infrared on which violates their own stated safety requirement.

I agree with the previous reviewer that this is simply a novelty item. It is not well design, it is not durable, and according to the company's own words, it is not safe either.

This is not the first time I've been disappointed with a Homedics device. This is the last Homedics product I'll ever buy.

Customer Review: Sincerely not worth the money

Simply put this thing is wimpy to the extreme. I find the motor continually stalling and Im not even pressing my foot into it at all, I've got to pretty much hold up most of the weight of my legs and Im a small guy or the motor starts whining grinding and stops. Its hardly relaxing when within a few minutes your starting to feel the burn in your upper leg muscles from the effort of keeping them lifted. Both wheels obviously share 1 motor, If I leave one foot off I can actually settle some weight down on it without killing the motor. Right now I'm in the market for a shiatsu massage cushion and in all honesty I will not buy a Homedics, after this fiasco I refuse to sit there expecting a back massage only to hear the frigging wheels squeel then stop, I'm now paranoid of purchasing a Homedics product theyre beyond cheaply made, poorly designed and fraught with a gigantic list of consumer problems.Maybe I'm wrong about thier back massagers but after experiencing this dreadful foot massager I'm not at all willing to drop $100 + dollars for a back massager using the same basic design. You've been warned

Customer Review: Great Product if used properly
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this foot massager. I bought it because I read the review one woman wrote about her husband, a cop, using it for relief. I also read the reviews about it breaking or not working very well, and discovered that it's not meant for you to put all your weight on it. I sit so my thighs are supported, and let my feet dangle and use the rest treads on either side to rest parts of my feet so the little motors don't work overtime.

I am training in Akido for my Mixed Martial arts style and my feet and legs hurt horribly when I am done. I use it for ten minutes in my sock feet every other day or twice a week and the pain is relieved. My feet and legs are also getting better, much less pain and swelling. (Don't know if that's the Akido or the machine, maybe it's both) I also noticed that the infrared is healing the scarring I have there from doing other sports. I recommend this to anyone for therapuetic relief of foot and leg pain. Just don't let your weight rest completely on the little pads and it lasts longer. I love it!!!!!! This was an answer to prayer.
