I have a Homedics SBM-300 Shiatsu Massage Cushion that does a nice job--as far as it goes. It just doesn't quite rise to the occasion sufficiently to hit those tired shoulder, neck, and head areas. That's where this Homedics Percussion Massager comes into play. I can enjoy the shiatsu massage and simultaneously dangle this convenient, adjustable portable unit on the back of my neck. Formerly I had an identically configured Brookstone model at nearly three times the price and weight. Maybe a good unit for twosomes, but when I tried to use it solo, my tired, blood-drained arm began to howl in protest. This Homedics unit is heavy enough to maintain its position on the spine by gravity alone but not so heavy as to require a "second," or assistant (my cat is certainly of little help). It's a happy medium that hits the spot on top.Customer Review: Pregnancy Backache Relief

My husband purchased this massager when I was in my 2nd trimester and suffering with "pregnancy backache". It was a real lifesaver. He gave me a massage with it each evening and it truly relieved a good portion of the pain I was experiencing. He now recommends it to all his friends who are "dads to be". It was especially helpful in the late 3rd trimester when my lower back was especially sore. With a 10 lb. baby, mommy needed all the help she could get! This did the trick. We have not experienced any of the problems that were mentioned in the previous reviews. Our massager is now 2 years old and works great.
UPDATE: Our massager is now over 8 years old and still runs like a champ.

I have searched and searched and searched.......and FINALLY got me this one~! First impression was....CHEAP MADE LOOPKING. MADE IN USA? but when I turn it on, well, it worked as I expected. Very nice massager for its price, it comes with three adjustment caps for SOFT, MEDIUM, and HARD. I wish there were case/place where I can store these caps which were not in use. If you are not careful you could hardly loose them~!!! Also, I thought the machine was HEAVY. If you are doing it on to yourself, you may get tired of just holding it....(I am a men, wiegh 200lb, 6'2, work out every day). and I thought this machine was heavy to hold for more than 1 min. massage on to your self. Although this product works quite well initially, the electrical cord will short out at the base of the unit after a year (or less) of normal use. Scroll through the reviews, and it's obvious that others have experienced this too.
This occurred a few months after the warranty ran out. Thinking it may have been a manufacturing anomaly, I purchased another one.
The exact same problem happened on the second massager, this time literally a few days after the warranty ran out.
I wrote to Homedics, providing receipts for both purchases and explaining the circumstances, and they didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge the correspondence.

I already owned an older version of this product that I loved so when it broke I didn't think twice about ordering another one but the new model is nothing like it's predecessor you could barly feel it at all at my job I'm on my feet all day and realy depend on my massager. The updated massager is no good why change a good thing so now I'll have to look for a different brand of massager which I hate to do because I loved my Homedics massager so much. Please consider changing back to old design.
