Customer Reviews of HoMedics SS-2000 Sound Spa Relaxation Sound Machine with 6 Nature Sounds, SilverCustomer Review: good product Summary: 5 Stars
Through trial and error we discovered that my son sleeps best when there is white noise playing in his room. We originally used a radio set to static but we live a few miles from a flight line and would often get interference from the radio tower / air traffic so we set out to find an alternative. My friend recommended the Homedics Sound Spa SS-2000 and we have been satisfied from Day 1. We use the "waterfall" option because it is more "white noise" than any of the other options and it's done the trick. Since we don't really use the other sounds I can't speak on the complaints about the "obvious loop" but I think that the sounds are very realistic - minus the heartbeat...it's a little wacky to me.
Customer Review: Works great...for a while. Summary: 2 Stars
I have owned 6 of these in the last 4 years, since my daughter was born. They work fine for about a year, but over time the on/off volume knob becomes loose and the machine starts shorting out. With the birth of my son a year after my daughter we began using one for him as well. Right on queue (a few weeks before both birthdays) the machine started acting up today. Last year I replaced my sons with the clock version of this machine. Since the on/off on that machine is a button, I have had no issues with it. I plan to replace my daughters with the same unit.
If you want a machine for only one year, buy this one. If you want a longer lasting machine, upgrade to the clock version.
Customer Review: Good white noise for kids' rooms Summary: 4 Stars
I like this sound machine because it has a waterfall setting that is nice, even white noise. I have one in each of my kids' rooms and it helps block out street noise and other noises from the house. The only thing I wish were different is if it had an ON button that was separate from the volume dial. I usually have a baby in one arm, trying to turn it on with one hand so it is kind of a pain. I would prefer to keep the volume setting constant and just have a push on/off button. Other than that, it is great. We've used my daughter's for over 2 years now with no problems and I just got one for my son. I like that it has an option to put it on a timer or you can just leave it on all night.
Customer Review: good enough Summary: 4 Stars
works pretty well. the only problem we have with it is that there are rogue sounds in the loop. we have only used "rain" and "waterfall." there are a couple of weird metal creaking noises going on. extremely subtle, but still annoying. when we first started using it, i would look around and be like, "what was that?" and realize it was the noise machine. and, once you hear it, you KEEP hearing it. and the noises are looped so quickly that the creaking noise happens about every 15 seconds. now that i know what it is, it's easy enough to ignore and it still works pretty well. it might bother some too much. i would have given it a 3, but the super low price made me tack on the 4th star.
Customer Review: LOVE it for my little one Summary: 5 Stars
I was going to go with a $50 white noise machine and at the last minute decided to try this one out instead and I am so glad I did. I love it... the waterfall option is a great white noise and the volume control has a good (and appreciated) range. The waterfall is the only one I know so I don't know of the loop on the other sounds is bad but I don't hear it at all on the waterfall. The other sounds are sweet and gentle.
We were using a fan in little one's room but it is getting cooler now so I wanted a sound machine. Works great. Also has a timer which we never use but I think is a cool option. We travel a lot too and that travels so well... much better than a fan, too.
