Customer Review: Beeps during "relaxing" sounds
Summary: 1 Stars

Update: 3 stars

It turns out that my cell phone was affecting the speaker, which didn't happen with my old alarm clock. So, as long as it's more than 5ft from my phone, there is no problem with the sound. Also, it would be nice to be able to control the alarm volume and the sound volume seperately rather than having to have them both be loud or both be soft.

Original Review:
This is a nice alarm clock; the time projection feature is neat although not overly useful. However, this product has two drawbacks. First, the projection can only go just slightly forward or anywhere behind the actual clock, so you have to look towards the clock to see the time. If you have to look at the clock, you might as well just read the green display.

Secondly, during the soothings sounds, it beeps! Only a few times about 14 minutes or so into the sound, but it's more than enough to wake you back up! I've tried multiple sounds, timed play and continuous (beeps every hour or so after the first beeps), and a second clock!

So, I plan to return this clock/sound machine, and just get a sound machine. My sister has had a Homedics sound machine for 4 1/2 years and it works just great. It's a shame that I'll have to have a seperate alarm, but this product simply doesn't work.

Customer Review: Not the worst, considering the price
Summary: 3 Stars

I have had this alarm clock for about two years. I don't think it is a terrible product FOR THE PRICE.
I bought it for myself and wasn't crazy about it but when I had a baby, I started using the waterfall sound because it most resembles white noise. For that purpose it is perfect.
I was pretty disappointed with the ocean sound (my preference) because it had annoying seagulls in the background. I understand that seagulls are at the ocean, but for sleep purposes, please, just the waves.
I really like the blue projection because I didn't have to turn to look at the time and never had any problems with that working properly. I agree with other posts that the green time display is too bright, even on the low setting. I always covered it with a small towel".
Also, every once in a while, I also had sound of "feedback in a microphone", but it was never a lasting issue.
I didn't buy it for the radio, so I didn't care that it has a poor tuner with no station display. But I can see how that could annoy people.

I am looking to replace it becasue the part that you plug in broke, which was my fault. I can say I definitely didn't love it enough to want to purchase it again. However, when I look at the prices of some of the other units, I am considering it.

Customer Review: Great ideas, terrible execution

1. My biggest gripe about this machine is the buttons that control the clock features (time and alarm set, radio or white noise, etc.). Most clocks have some sort of feature that prevents you from accidentally changing the time (check your own digital alarm clock to see what I mean; you probably have to push or slide something with one hand while setting the time with the other). But this clock has no such feature AND the buttons for setting the time are in a line with five other buttons, all the same size and distance apart. That can only mean that instead of hitting snooze or turning off the alarm at 7 am, you will invariably hit one or both of the time set buttons. So now your clock says 8:02 am. Or your toddler or your pet will push one or both buttons. Several times. Worst idea ever!

2. My next gripe is that the projector is almost as bright as daylight, and has no dimmer. It is too bright to sleep with it on.

If you are only interested in a white noise generator, and/or you are not bothered by the bright blue glow, this machine might be useful. I like white noise, and I do enjoy the variety of sounds this clock makes. But I would not recommend the projection feature, and I would definitely not recommend the alarm clock feature. !!!

Customer Review: i love this thing

i have difficulty sleeping most of the time so i bought this hoping it would help. it's fabulous. i don't know that it makes a very good alarm clock. i use it as a backup alarm for my regular clock. the alarm is very quiet and wouldn't wake me up if was doing any more than just dozing.

as a radio, it's acceptable. i live in a basement apartment and i can still get decent reception with it.

the projection was clear and very bright but since i don't like sleeping in total darkness, it was just perfect. it kept me from having to leave the tv on all night like i usually do. anyway, if it's too much, you can always turn it off.

the sounds are good quality. you can adjust the volume from almost silent to very loud which is quite nice. there is a slight hum from the speaker when the volume is jacked up but that is to be expected with any speaker and it's not that distracting at all.

my favorite sound is the rain sound. i find it the most soothing. the waterfall sounds more like the traditional white noise hissing sound. the thunder is a little repetitive as is the summer night but they are both still nice. i would have delighted in a heartbeat sound but i'm very pleased with what i have now.

Customer Review: Misconceptions
Summary: 5 Stars

I came here first to read the reviews on this clock and see if I was getting my money's worth.

A few things I read first, then onto what I thought of it. I read the clock itself was lightweight leaving you unable to hit the buttons, which I found to be not true unless you're pretty heavy-handed. I also read a few reviews about subpar audio quality on the radio and the 6 builtin sounds, which I only found to be true if you turned it up as far as you could. You can only expect so much out of a speaker its size (and a clock its price).

The sounds do their job in putting me to sleep (high traffic area). The alarm is set and reset daily without any hitches. I did not have to reset it each time I viewed it contrary to what I read. The LCD is sufficiently bright at night, but I found in the morning the projection is easier to read. The sound alarm on the other hand, is a good idea to include, but I've not found much use in using it to actually wake up. The radio is crisp when you've actually straightened the antenna wire instead of leaving it as is.

All in all, I paid $30 and for $30 I got what I paid for. A sound machine for one, an alarm clock for another, and the projection is a nice bonus.
