I bought this fountain, a long with HoMedics EnviraScape Island Gardens Illuminated Relaxation Fountain - Brown. While I was completely satisfied with this one, the latter was a different story.
Both are constructed from somewhat cheap plastic. The difference; the HoMedics EnviraScape Island Gardens Illuminated Relaxation Fountain - Brown looks very cheap--the plastic body, the plastic leaves, everything. The HoMedics WFL-GDN Envirascape Garden Leaves Illuminated Fountain, Copper fountain, however, looks superb and feels like it's made of copper, not plastic.
Moving on to the lighting; the Island Gardens Fountain also fails in that domain. Lighting consists of 3 different color LEDs placed at the bottom. The light barely shines onto the first leaf. It has to be dark to see only a small glow of light on the rest. As for the Garden Leaves Fountain, however, that is also a different story. Elegant yellow LEDs are placed at the bottom of each of the 4 leaves, shining onto the leaf below it, as well as at the top of the top leaf. The effect is great and a pleasure to look at!
Finally, a note to mention; these things come disassembled, and you have to place the water pump and connect it to the mechanism. While that was as easy as 123 with the Garden Leaves Fountain, the Island Gardens Fountain had, yes, you guessed right, another story. The pump would simply not attach and stay attached to the fountain mechanism. And when it does, the water pressure was not enough. (The water trickling on the top leaf would miss the leaf and drip behind the fountain, causing a mess). I had to to glue the entire thing with a glue gun to get the water flowing. It still does not flow perfectly, though. Most of the time, and I think due to a leak in pressure, the water doesn't trickle properly to the 2nd leaf, also causing a mess. I'm not sure if I got a defective unit or not. I'm giving HoMedics the benefit of the doubt. The water in the Garden Leaves Fountain, on the other hand, flows gracefully from leaf to leaf. I would definitely recommend that fountain. As for the Island Gardens Fountain, well, I would say if you can go see it in store somewhere, do so first. I relied on the Amazon's picture, and was disappointed. You won't go wrong with the HoMedics WFL-GDN Envirascape Garden Leaves Illuminated Fountain, Copper, though.
