For the price of this little fountain you are NOT going to get it in copper (Cu). Of course it is going to be copper colored plastic but the plastic is fine. The pump makes little noise and there is very little splashing that goes outside the fountain. I would still recommend it be placed on a surface such as a plastic mat or large plate that is not damaged by water droplets or leaks from overfilling. The biggest drawback for which I gave it only four stars instead of five is the placement of the pump speed switch. It is nice to be able to adjust the flow but you have to turn it off and pull the entire assembly off of the tank/base in order to get to the switch. It probably would have added to the cost to put it in the same place as the on/off switch on the electrical cord but I think it would have been worth it. The rocks that came with it are not very attractive as should be expected for this price. I replaced them with some of those rounded glass 'gems' or nuggets that you can get in a huge variety of colors at most art and hobby stores. The main drawback of such a replacement is that they have a tendancy to end up in the bottom unless you decrease the water flow to the minimum or glue them on the leaves. I'm also using distilled and deionized water to prevent mineral buildup. This is an added expense since about 300 mls or 1 cup per day is lost to evaporation in my winter dry climate. I have to top it off every day to keep the level high enough for the pump to perform its best. The fountain looks better than the picture. Before purchasing it, it was not clear to me that this fountain is not copper but brown plastic. Given that copper generally oxidizes in air, plastic is fine with me. However, it is not clear from the description that the fountain is not constructed of copper. You have to learn that by reading the reviews (and I didn't until after I opened the box).
Overall, this little fountain works well. We live in Texas where it's often hot and dry, so we like to have a fountain to add humidity to the indoor air. This fountain does just that, and the running water makes a soothing sound that is enjoyable.
However, that cute little light near the top is very, very bright, and it cannot be shut off. I find it annoying, although it does bring out the copper color of the plastic construction.
I will buy more rocks to go in this fountain. The small number of rocks included in the package is nowhere near enough to cover the bottom of the fountain.
All in all, a good, but hardly great, indoor fountain.

I really liked the fountain and received lots of complements on it. The sound isn't too distracting and the pump is really quiet. Everything seemed to work fine when i set it up one afternoon at work. Then when i came in the next day half of the water from the fountain had leaked out the back by where the electric cord comes out.
Not sure if this is an issue most people had or if it was just mine. I took it back and swapped it out for a different style of HoMedics fountain just in fear that i would have the same issue if i got another one.
Wasn't bothered by the Plastic material because it doesn't look bad. What can you expect for under $40?

This is actually a beautiful fountain that looks much better than the picture on Amazon. Although it is made of plastic, it looks quite good and much better than the artificial grey slate type fountains.
As other reviewers mention, the pump really is quiet and there is a nice flow of water that is soothing when the room is quiet. I have wind chimes outside and the two together are very soothing.
This fountain lights up with lovely yellow illumination. In a dark room it is quite attractive and fits into even a very upscale decor. The cost of them item is low and overall I think my 5 rating is well-deserved.

Oh man... The idea was really great to create such a fountain with this nice design of garden leaves and lighting but if only it could work for a little longer!! The bulbs were dead by the end of the second week, and the pipes through which the water runs become stained and there is no way to clean them. Finally, the inner surface of the boat gets really tough stain with time and I used endless amount of cleaners to get rid of that stain--no way!!! The water needs to be changed very often, otherwise, it will get sticky and the engine will work slowly... Wheh... Too much work for a little pleasure. Would not recommend this product.
