Customer Review: Manual: "DO NOT use this product for more than 15 minutes at a time..."

I initially wanted a heated cushion but when I saw that I could get both the heater and the massager very inexpensively, I bought this product. The massager is what you could expect: 10 motors (2 for the seat, 4 for the lower back, 2 for the middle and 2 for the upper back) controlled with four individual "Off-Low-High" switches. However, the heat is only available in the lower-back portion (I wish they said that before I bought it). And that brings me to the page 4 from the manual: "...please allow 5-10 minutes for heat to reach maximum temperature". From the same page: "DO NOT use this product for more than 15 minutes at a time. Extensive use could lead to the product excessive heating and shorter life... ". In other words, you have to wait for 5-10 minutes for the product to heat and then you can use it at most another 5-10 minutes. Make sure you read the one-star review: "We plugged it in, and it worked fine for about twenty minutes. Then it stopped working, and the motor started overheating. There was a strong burnt odor well after we turned it off."Customer Review: Not only defective, but possibly dangerous

I considered the Shiatzu product by the same manufacturer, but so many reviews complained about defective Shiatzu cushions that I decided on this model instead. We plugged it in, and it worked fine for about twenty minutes. Then it stopped working, and the motor started overheating. There was a strong burnt odor well after we turned it off. Because of similar negative reviews of other Homedics products, we will be returning this for a refund, not a replacement. Too bad. We were really looking forward to using this, and we would have loved to keep it if only it had worked, but I'm not going to take chances on a product that has the potential to burn down the house.Customer Review: Good Vibrations!

This is the latest incarnation of the simple "Heat and massage" unit by Homedics, I adore this model, the controls are simpler still, heat and two intensity settings for each of the 5 motor groups along your rump and spine. I have one for home and one for my car and one as a spare incase either of the others fail... my back can't do without. There is no fancy cam unit to grind up and down your back and once turned on (not a big shiatsu fan), the heat and massage functions are on until you decide otherwise (my older units had a 20 minute timer that I don't miss at all).

Amazon screwed me big time. I bought 2 items with a 30 dollar discount. Second item cancelled and my discount becasue they did not have my street addrses. Street address was on the notice the company sent me telling me they did not have it. Three attempts to get Amazon to do something got me no where. They said I had to contact the seller. I ordered it from Amazon but they took no interest in fixing the problem ---said they contracted it to another company. I will NOT be ordering from Amazon again. The price is great. The versatility is nice. You can use it on an office chair and it even comes with a plug so that you can use it in your car. Unfortunately, the massager gives more of a vibrating effect than a massage effect. Not impressive at all. If you're going to buy one of these, definately go with a high-end model. Bed Bath & Beyond has the more expensive models on display for customers to try out. Also worth noting, my massager broke two weeks into buying it. One day I tried to turn it on and it just wouldn't work.
