I can't speak for myself about the efficacy of this massager, because it was my husband with the back problem. But he said it really made him feel better. So it's good for the massage-ee. It's quite heavy, which is actually helpful for the massage-er because you just hold it in one place for a minute and let the thing do the work.Customer Review: It helps to relax

I did not expect this thing to be so effective but it really helps to get rid of pain! It is not for one person, but if there is another person to help, this massager is extremely helpful on shoulders, back, even hips. This purchase was a replacement for a massager I had for over 6 years. My experience with Homedics products has been good and this is no exception. The only thing I noted was that the cord could be longer. I have a lumbar issue and this massager has always been the tool for relief. The price is right and the quality is good.Customer Review: Good

This product is good. The only draw back is its weight. It is too heavy for a person to massage on their own.. that too when they have pain. Elder people may not be able to do on their own. Someone else have to operate and help them.
My parents got lots of relief after using this.

I am only 36 and have back issues due to long term sitting on airplanes. I'm 6'4" tall and needed a massager that would work out knots for my shoulder blades/neck. Not only has this helped my back but its worked well on my hamstrings. I recommend it and love it after long trips.
