I've had back problems for 6 years now. Until I started using the Shiatsu Massaging Cushion with heat, I was in and out of the chiropractor's office every month or two having discs (L3&5) popped back in place. It was a horrible time.
Then I discovered this chair. Seriously, it changed my life. In the two years I've owned this chair, I've had ONE incident that required a chiropractor's adjustment. Using this cushion is the only thing I've changed in my life - aside from dropping the frequent chiropractor bills.
I'm not sure how massaging the muscles = less disc problems, but it did for me. Maybe the knots (dissolved by the massager) were the culprits?
I use it at least once a week, and I feel like a new person. I really like that there is no annoying vibration, and it successfully gets into my sore spots.
I do agree with the reviewer who complained about it not being appropriate for a large person. My boyfriend is 6'4" and he complains that it is not tall enough. However, I'm 5'3" and it's perfect.
In addition, Homedic's customer service is great - my cushion stopped working about a month ago, and I had to deal with the return process. I was amazed to find how easy it was! Keep your receipt, and they'll replace it for two years. You just have to get it there. They pay for the shipping back to you.
However, if it was beyond the return period, I would have BOUGHT another one. I seriously love this chair!!

Being a computer person who spends 10 hrs a day in front a computer and 1 hour in a car, I wish if there was an inexpensive way of getting a back massage whenever I wanted.
I found homedics SBM 200H to be the ideal solution if you are looking for a massage at your home whenever you want it. Just put it on your chair, plug in the wires and you are all set.
I found a few good and bad things about the massager
Pros
* Works as advertised - provides a nice massage and the right amount of heat on the back
* Fits most of the chairs, so you do not have to change your chair for this massager
* Works on both lower and upper back with a medium-high intensity giving a nice massage
Cons
* Wish if there was way to control the intensity - Homedics suggests puttin a towel on the massager which works but decreases the heat
* Wish if there was a way to adjust the range of motion of the rollers - the lower/upper back control is good enough, but not all people are of the same size and there should have been something to control the range of motion
Overall I reccomend this to anyone wanting to buy a reasonably priced massage chair which does its job well.

I originally bought this item from Target; took it home and immediately set-up my massager I was truly eager to test it out. Did not have any problems with set-up whatsoever. I mean come on here it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure things out. So, no didn't read any directions to get started.
Usage - the shiatsu balls does hurt!!! There is no easy way to put this.
CONS: I have read everyone complains about does not reach far enough for their shoulders well I am 5'3" so this did not apply to me at all, sorry. However, my problem is I have pains in my lower back and this was absolutely not the solution for this. I could NOT feel anything in the lower back area which was an absolute waste of my money. Now, I will say this for mid-back to upper back usage this item is for you.
Remote: lots of cons here. You cannot control the intensity which to me what is the point!! Was a little cheesy for the money. Bottom line I took it back and ordered a massager I had years before which only cost $30 and i love it. It travels all the way down to my thighs and the vibration is powerful enough for me to enjoy and guess what best part i have options as to how much intensity I want. I should have known never had any problems with the one I had before gave it away because was no longer using it so got bored with it so now i have another one and love it, love it!!!!!

I've had Homedics products before including a couple of their other models of massage cushions. Without exception I have not been happy with the results. That is why this particular model was a real surprise to me. It is in a league of its own compared to the other models I tried.
Not only does it work well but it has options for heat as well as the ability to concentrate the massaging action on the lower back, upper back, or the entire back. Two heated rotating units move up your back on either side of the spine and then down again producing a deep massage effect. The unit is timed for fifteen minute sessions before automatically shutting off.
The other Homedics units I tried basically had between five and ten vibrating "motors" and for me produced an increase in blood circulation without any muscular benefit. If you are looking for one that will really help sore, tired muscles then this is the unit you want. If you have not been happy with the results from Homedics massage units before then give this one a try before giving up on them. This one really works and I could not be happier with it!

I've got to admit that I've wanted one of these massaging cushions since first trying it in my local pharmacy a year or so ago. It was definitely worth the wait. The Homedics SBM-200H combines therapeutic heat with soothing shiatsu rollers for a relaxing experience every time it's put to use. Start-up takes less than a minute, and the results are immediate. If ever there was a back massage that comes as close as possible to the real thing, this is it. Lower back the problem? Set it to focus on just your lower back. Same option for the upper as well.
The only problems that might arise from continuous use of this product are the rolling balls. They seem to grind somewhat with too much pressure, which might be a concern with regular use over a long period of time.
Overall, however, this is a worthy buy. Although there have been newer and more advanced Homedics massaging cushions put on the market, the SBM-200H still holds weight as a worthy purchase for your achy, tired back.
