I recently purchased this product. I have chronic back pain related to bulging discs and bone spurs in my thoracic spine. Being on my feet all day at work exacerbates the pain.
I get a sharp pain just to the left of my spine in the mid-upper back area. The Shiatsu Massaging Cushion with heat does relax my muscles and helps to alleviate the pain.
I prefer to use the heat setting with the massage, but it is optional. The roller mechanism is spaced well for my frame, and it exerts a good amount of pressure. If it's too much, you can always put a towel between your back and the cushion.
I'd definitely recommend this product. I'd suggest that anyone with a chronic health problem consult with a professional before using it. However, I don't see any major contraindications for most people.
I'm very glad I've found something that finally helps with my back pain.

Read the fine print before you buy! I received this massage cushion and it was broken straight out of the box. It turned on, but the massage mechanism was completely broken. When I asked for a return label to send it back, they told me to read the return policy which states "they will refund your ORIGINAL shipping charges to compensate you." Needless to say, to send back the product for standard shipping cost over $50, while the original online shipping price is only $12. I was already down half the price of the chair! When they finally received the returned item, I received a shipment notification that my replacement chair was on its way out. However, the next day I received an email that said they were sold out of the chair and would just give me a refund. So the end result of 3 weeks of hassle was that UPS made $50 from me and $11.95 from Firefly Buys and no one received a chair. I've heard Rush and Bill wax on about how much they love this massaging cushion. They like it so much, one almost has the impression they're massaging more than their egos when they're talking on the radio.
Anyway, liberal me gave the cushion a whirl and I have to tell you that it really does sooth those aches away. Those rollers go up and down and it feels oh so dreamy. I've tried the cushion on a straight backed kitchen chair, my TV watching recliner and even in the swivel chair I use when I'm online. The recliner is best, ah it just feels oh so good. Using it with a hard chair, that I didn't like, but on my office chair, oh girl, it's pretty neeto.

I love back massagers so have a realistic idea of how they work and what to expect from them. This one has problems. Yes, it does heat, but not as fast as they say, not any faster than other heating/vibrators. It has no speed control, just off and on, and just a selection for full back, lower back or upper back. On off for the heat.
The heat never got very hot. Stayed warm. And while the massage was nice, it has HORRIBLE noise. It sounds like sometimes hammering - LOUDLY, on your back with a hammer. VERY IRRITATING.
Big disappointments in this item, and not enough pluses to recommend it to anyone.

The Shiatsu Massaging Cushion is very easy to use, just as it comes out of the box. It provides fast penetrating heat massages and can be used on most any chair. When you turn it on, you can immediately feel the mechanism moving up and down your back. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works to relieve your "knots." The handy, well made hand piece, offers a demo mode, heat, full back, upper back, and lower back settings. It appears to be very well made and can provide you with much comfort over the years. Well worth a try if you're having back problems, or just for relaxing after a hard day at work !!
