Customer Review: Oh my aching back...NOT

We bought this massager as a joint Christmas gift. Having tried various massagers in stores, this product seemed to offer solutions for both, neck, shoulder and back. Also it had heat.
PACKAGING:
The massager comes in a nice neat box with a handle. Not useful if you buy it online, but essential if you buy it in a store. Unpacking is simple. You slide it out of the box. Be sure not to bounce the wired remote in the process. In the back you are given an allen-head wrench, to unfasten two screws that keep the working mechanism from bouncing around. Then you are ready.
PLACEMENT:
Initially we put the massager on an older leather office chair, figuring we would need the height to support it and we found it pushed us too far forward to relax. Later, we set it in a standard living room chair and found the level of reclining was much better. Nice to be able to put your feet up when you relax into the massager as well.
MASSAGES AVAIILABLE:
I'm sure you can read what this unit has but in a nutshell
SHOULDER MASSAGE: with or without heat and height adjustment
BACK MASSAGE (SHIATSU): with or without heat. Full back, upper back or lower back
BACK MASSAGE (ROLLING): with adjustable width. Full back, upper back or lower back.
BACK MASSAGE (SHIATSU): With or without heat. Spot selection.
Note: you can combine shoulder massage with back massage. It can get a bit intense though when the back massage is at the top of the back.
A timer clicks off when you hit 15 minutes of continuous usage.
OPINION OF THE MASSAGE:
First of all I have never had a professional massage, so consider that. In comparison to other chair massagers I find this unit provides a rigorous massage. Many of the others I found, were light at best. Of course how much you lean into it, effects the depth of the massage.
As sometimes my back is knots due to poor posture, I have found this is handy to work it out. Not only does varying the type of massage help, but the heat on cold Northern days is wonderful.
On the shoulder massage, I find I can vary the strength of the massage with the height adjustment. As I am 5 foot 9 inches tall, I can get a fairly rigorous massage by setting the rollers lower. A shorter person might not be able to get the rollers low enough. However I don't know that. If that is important to you, you might want to try one out first.
OVERALL OPINION:
This massager was a pleasant surprise for massage strength and I think it will be used often in my family. I will update this as it gets used more. Right now in these cold northern months, I'm looking forward to getting some of my back kinks out after a day of poor posture. This seems a good value for the money.
