Customer Review: Great, but not perfect

I've spent much of my life on crutches due to bad luck. When I found out I had to have surgery on my leg, I was not thrilled at the thought of another six weeks on crutches. I tried a Weil knee walker at my doctor's office, but felt it was too hard to manipulate and too heavy. I have several tight corners in my apartment, and when I saw the front wheels on this thought it was the way to go.
Price wise this was about the same price as it would have been to rent the Weil walker from my doctor.
It works GREAT in my carpeted apartment. It has a fairly small turning radius, all things considered, and I love love LOVE the basket on it. Once I recovered and was more steady on my feet, I was able to take it out to places like Target where there wasn't any carpet and have had no control problems.
It's very light and folds up, but doesn't stay folded up very well. It is pretty easy to throw in a car so you can go out.
Keep in mind it's not the most steady - there were a handful of times I've wobbled on it, but if you're careful you should be okay. Also, b/c of the front wheel design it pulls to one side (whichever side you're putting the weight on).
Oh, and it will chew up your knee a little if you have a brace that goes up high like mine does. I put a small pillow on top of the pad and it made a huge difference.
Not perfect, but a WAY better alternative to crutches.
