Customer Reviews of J.CROW'SŪ Lugol's Solution of Iodine 2%Customer Review: A good product Summary: 5 Stars
When coffee stops working or makes you sick...the thyroid gland may need help. Working with hormones has to be the answer. I had no desire for coffee during pregnancy 3 times, and I'm thinking hormone changes did this. I'm trying to educate myself, my thyroid gave out I guess at 51 years. I had more than double the serious symptoms and was too tired to see a doctor. In a few months I gained about 40 lbs for no particular reason, had biscuit cravings (seeking slow carbs) and couldn't not squeeze into my clothes. Doctor's aren't advertising or hurting for buisness yet and they should be for they don't help people much, they are paying off student loans and trying to stay rich and have a lifestyle. I'm waking up now, but this lugol's, wasn't enough, I got a bottle of iodoral 50mg, and that worked better, like some brain fog cleared. This stuff wears off and you have to take drops all day long, and brutal on the tongue but I got used to it. The iodoral (pills) is good for about 4 hours....I like the [...] atomic, nascent better, but I went looking for something more affordable. Pure Bulk is in 95% grain alcohol and hurts and desentizes your tongue but you get used to it but it causes you not to enjoy food only because you can't taste it, and it made me very thirsty which causes me to drink water and lose weight. Maybe the violence of the chemical makes me so thirsty for coconut water suddenly hit the spot and I'm drinking lot's of it? The drops seems to keep me going all day...but I have to keep taking them all day, iodine doesn't last. I also started drinking all the coconut water I could afford. It calms me down and I think the strong alkalinity causes the parasites to suffer. The parasites waste products makes people a nervous wreck, they seem to not multiply or die off in an alkaline environment. I used drops all day. Basically, iodine works. I didn't notice any working activity in the store shelf brands like the Cayce atomadine or ionic minerals...they seem like almost just water or far too weak for my problem. As a dropper situation I found lugol's and atomic iodine from pure bulk tasting like a chemical, and changes the tongue tastebuds, but it works. I may need thyroid medicine but at least I can get to a doctor now. Another thing that works is sushi and green tea. Instantly I feel better. There is natural guaranteed iodine in sushi and the green tea is alkaline. I get this expensive wild red great tasting salmon and cooking it destroys the iodine and zinc and selenium somehow, I have to find out more but right now it feels criminal to starve children on MacDonald's, steak or balogna, chicken, etc....instead feed them sushi. The bread I hear is the worst thing with chemicals in it (bromides....) that seem to cause more iodine deficiency by binding up and blocking up important chemical processes the body needs to do. I'm building a website which is up during the building process [...] which offer's some direct links for some of this products that works out. This iodine isn't expensive, a gallon is about [...]. So, it's important for people to get together and buy in bulk. The process to make it atomic and nascent is good too. I have suspicion the coffee industry and even the speed industry is replacing what is really needed when it's iodine problems. This doesn't mean you can go out and load up on chips and fries and coffee which I stopped most of this which digests over months in the body not hours. I would have to say extra iodine helps because it's a gland tweaker, but unclogging your cells and liver, and glands is important since clogged chemistry caused me to need iodine so badly. Chances of iodine alone working for long are slim and other factors, what you ate and are poisoned with are critical. I never thought coffee, bread, pizza (more bread) and a few fries a day was so dangerous to an older woman. I now know that any food that is mass produced, and packaged for the general public comes into the danger category. I'm scared for our children being fed so wrong in the United States.
Customer Review: Why Didn't My Doctors Tell Me About This? Summary: 5 Stars
My wife is hypothyroid, and I became interested in her condition when her doctors struggled to get her thyroid to respond to various medications. I searched hypothyroidism on the web, and one of the things that popped up was iodine. I read the various articles about it, and the reviews here on Amazon, and decided to order this. My wife agreed to try it, and I figured I'd do the same, just to see If it made me feel better.
We decided to take 5 drops (12.5 mg) each day and see if we noticed any effects. While my wife reported no improvement after a week, I experienced much more energy and alertness immediately after starting. But the real surprise for me was the vast improvement of some skin conditions I've had for many years that my dermatologist prescribed medication for, but could only slow the progression. The itching stopped immediately, and the patches of thick and callused skin on one of my palms started showing improvement, as did the eczema patch on one knee.
It's been three weeks now, and the eczema patch on my knee, which had grown to over 5 inches in diameter, is now less than 2 inches. It has changed from a maroon color to a normal skin color, and is still shrinking each day. The problem on my hand also appears to be heading toward full resolution.
I'm dumbfounded! How could my doctors overlook something as simple as a nutritional deficiency? I've worried about this condition and spent considerable money over the years trying to control it since I was told that was the best I could hope for. Something is terribly wrong with western medicine for something like this to occur.
Update 9-23-09: It's been over two months since I started taking this. The skin improvements stopped short of total resolution, but the improvements described in my review are still present. I am VERY happy.
Update 11-23-10: When I wrote the above comments, I didn't know it, but I still had one more surprise coming: For the last 15 years I've had four toenails that looked terrible due to fungus. Now, more than a year later, you can see in the nails where I began taking the iodine; the new growth looks healthy and normal. At the present growth rate, the bad part of the nails should be totally gone within a few more months.
Customer Review: A Mind Returned Summary: 5 Stars
I was living out the old saying "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.".
At only 49, I feared I was following in my grandmother's footsteps with senile dementia. Not the mild forgetfulness that we all jokingly play off when we can't remember something on the tips of our tongues, but rather the scary private secret that we know we're slowly losing our edge.
When you make you're living with a sharp pencil this knowledge is especially devastating. A slow dimming of the mind is a cruel thing.
Enter iodine. Particularly Lugol's solution in this case. Within 2 hours of drinking a glass of water with 5 drops of the solution, I could feel the fog that had taken years to develop, beginning to lift. Within 24 hours and into the following week, it became abundantly clear that the cloud had lifted. My mind had returned to its normal, welcome sharpness. I wasn't just a little sharper, I was back to being me altogether. You cannot overstate my relief and gratitude. A million dollars couldn't buy what a few pennies did.
Apparently the FDA and medical community with it, have gotten the whole iodine thing totally wrong. You don't need MICROgrams of iodine, you need MILLIgrams and the health and longevity of the Japanese are my witnesses and evidence. Folks eating western diets get 100 or so micrograms of iodine a day if they're lucky, while the Japanese get 10 - 50 milligrams a day. That's 100 - 500x as much and the Japanese have demonstrably higher IQs and phenomenally lower breast and other cancer rates. Read the work of Dr. Brownstein and others with the Iodine Project. Apparently once again we have forgotten what we once knew - that iodine is medicine.
Do your own research on the matter and decide for yourself what is right.
If you do decide to supplement with iodine then education is imperative. The iodine is extremely safe, but is also a powerful detoxification agent and you need to be aware of some changes that can occur while your body is eliminating toxins flushed out by the iodine, particularly bromides. Be healthy and smart.
Customer Review: PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS BEFORE YOU DO RESEARCH Summary: 1 Stars
This product is NOT completely Potassium Iodide! It is a percentage of potassium iodide and a lower percentage elemental iodine. Nutritional iodine is better supplied in the form of the less toxic iodide (see SSKI) or iodate salts, which the body can easily convert to thyroid hormone. Elemental iodine is toxic when ingested but some people cannot even put it on their skin! Also others are so sensitive to elemental iodine that any exposure puts them in a hyperthyroid crisis whether inhaled, or put on the skin. They do not even have to ingest it to have extremely severe reactions including a hyperthyroid crisis. Many people are deficient in iodine but if not sensitive to it, it would be best to get your iodine from food and iodized salt (if not sensitive to it). Ocean Fish and shellfish, small to moderate amounts of seaweeds if tolerated. Also eggs, onions, and garlic depending on where they are grown contain small amounts of iodide. There are many ocean fish and shellfish low in mercury. Do a net search.
Please please do not ingest this product!! And many people cannot even put it on their skin. To the person who mentioned Betadine. This is providone iodine and absolutely cannot be ingested at all by anyone!! Betadine and other providone iodine products are meant to be used as a topical antiseptic for minor cuts and scrapes only, in tiny areas, occasionally.
If one is looking for a product to have on hand for nuclear fallout there are Iosat and other very high dose potassium iodide only tablets and liquids to have around to SOLELY BE TAKEN in case of a severe nuclear fallout in the immediate vicinity and at the direction of your government. For more information do a nets search for "American Thyroid Association".
Customer Review: READ BEFORE YOU BUY IT - I BEG YOU Summary: 1 Stars
I'm sorry about only one star but this product might not be what you are looking for, don't base your purchase only on the positive reviews here, at least not before you read this! I was shocked by all of the highly positive reviews from people who purchase it to supplement iodine into theirs diets! NOT only that this is NOT a iodine solution to be taken internally this is NOT even a "topical only" Lugol's solution. The bottle clearly states "TALISMAN ONLY" So be careful if you planning to use it as iodine supplement, Iodine comes from different sources so if you are looking for something to ingest this is probably not the product you would want to buy as unlike the description the bottle clearly states "TALISMAN ONLY"
I would look for a Lugol's solution of pharmaceutical purity to be on the safe side.
If you think this review was helpful for you please press the "YES" button below so it can help others. Once again sorry about only one star but this is as a response to some of the very positive reviews telling people to consume this very product but omitting one very important fact.
Please note this review applies only to "J.Crow's Lugol's Iodine Solution 2%" which has the "Talisman only" words on the bottle not to any other Lugol's solution sold on Amazon.
