Customer Review: The mirror does the trick

Before I purchased this mirror, I read many other reviews and decided to check it for myself, as my old Remington mirror (which is no longer made)died out and I was desperate for something new. Well....here's the honest truth of the good and the bad.
Good...the regular mirror is perfect and it's nice to have some side view mirrors as well. Bad... the flip side of the mirror that gives you a 5x magnifier makes you feel like you are at an amusement park looking at yourself in a mirror with a distorted view. Although I would sometimes use that on my old model, I could live without it.
Good...the "day" light choice was the same as my old model and provides me with just the right light. Bad... there is a lever to slide which moves colored plastic over the lights to give you other types of low lighting, but it's stuck and won't move past the day light. I could have returned it but didn't want to wait for a new one since I never used other shades of lighting on my make up mirror and only used the day light.
I read that others were frustrated when you turn the lights on that they shut off. That's because of the kind of bulbs they are. You have to hold down the "on" switch long enuf for them to light up. So...
The good is that they do work. The bad is, (which is not so bad)is the slight humming noise, again because I believe they are a florescent (sp) light. I fixed that by putting a soft pad underneath the mirror it to absorb the sound. I don't really even hear it now.
With all that, you'd think I'd rate it less than 4 stars... but all in all I'm happy with my purchase.

I just ordered this for my mother. We received it and it was a surprise at every turn. First of all we got it in less than two days and it arrived via Fed Express (no extra charge). Then the packaging was among the best I have seen with glass products. But no peanuts or shredded paper mess all over everywhere when you opened the box. The product itself: The weight is a good solid weight. It has multiple angles you can place it at and the stand that you do this with, is heavy gauge metal that is placed in various grooves; not ALL plastic that you fear breaking, everytime you reset the angle. The lighting on both sides is done with tubular as opposed to "Nite Lights" that are used on many mirrors. This produces a phenomenal quality of lighting. There are multiple settings for the type of lightening, depending on the type needed: for outside, office, home, daytime, night time, etc. The large middle mirror can be flipped to reveal a 5x magnified mirror. Another plus is that there is a plug outlet on it so that you could plug in electric rollers, hair dryer or any electric device needed at your vanity. I have owned many make up mirrors in the last thirty years and I hesitated on this at first, because I was not familar with the name brand. I am sure glad I ordered it anyway. Tonight I am ordering another one for myself. I have a lighted mirror already, but I cannot pass on this one. I will use my other one for traveling. You cannot miss with this product. This mirror has a lever that changes the light setting by colored filters on either side of the mirror that move from office to evening to day, etc. These did not move in sync and the lever was so hard to move it popped off and scraped my knuckles so bad they bled. One side would be on one setting and the other would be different. One side would not move to day at all. I popped the coverings off and moved it myself and decided to just keep it on day. I used the mirror one time and it was great. After that, the lights on the mirror would not come on no matter how long I held the button to on. I think the company that makes this mirror has no quality control and you take your chances when ordering whether you will receive a defective mirror or a mirror that works. Mine was an just a worthless product that has been a complete and utter disappointment. I've gotten no help from Amazon other than them saying to return it and the excuse it does not ship from Amazon. I've never returned an item to Amazon and am a Prime member. I am not a complainer. This mirror was truly worthless. It was defective in several ways. I don't think a customer should have to take a chance on ordering a defective product. If Amazon sells it and ships it Prime Amazon should back the product and force the company to improve their quality control. Bought this mirror, love it! If you're looking to replace the Conair True Reflections II, this is the model you want. My mom passed her used Conair down to me when my dad gave her a new one...I'd had it for years when one of the doors broke and couldn't be fixed...I lived with it this way for many more years and finally decided I'd buy a new one for myself for my birthday. WHAT!!?? They don't make that Conair any more??? UGH! After some searching I found this one (hated the round models, hated the incandescent models), read lots of reviews, struggled with the idea of ordering this one sight unseen and shipping mirrors through the mail--EGADS!--what if the mirror broke in transit, then I'd have to send it back, etc... Can I tell you how much I LOVE THIS MIRROR?! It has slightly more magnification than the Conair model but it's all the better to see you with my dear! And the mirror pivots on the horizontal rather than vertical so it can be adjusted either by using the "kick stand" in the back or by adjusting the vertical tilt. And the manufacturer has added a little sticker over the on/off switch for those who have no understanding/patience for florescent bulbs (see, I did read the reviews) but, if you recall, you had to hold down the on switch for the Conair as well. Excellent price, Excellent product. It's been a long time since I've been this satisfied with a mirror. LOL, hope this helps you make your decision!Customer Review: So far it's GREAT!

I have had a lighted makeup mirror for years and can't imagine not having one, so when one of the lights started to go out I began my search for another. I came across this mirror and started reading the reviews. I was concerned because the price was soooo good that I thought that it was too good to be true. I almost did not buy it when I read that the lights were difficult or at times did not turn on but I threw caution to the wind as there seemed to be far more positives, and I'm glad I did! I will say that when I first set it up I could not get the lights to come on and felt a sick feeling but I held the button down for a second or two then released it and tapped it again and we had lights! And wonderful bright lights they are (kind of scary) I guess I really needed this mirror a while ago ;-). I love the stand and the different positions but I really like that the mirror swivels vertically instead of horizontally thus letting me adjust it even more. The 5X magnification is clear and really great for doing my eyebrows. As far as the side mirrors, I haven't really used those yet (my other did not have them) and that's not to say that in time I won't. I'm just not used to them. My only concern is that I don't have a problem with the lights a month from now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I absolutely love everything about this mirror and I would buy it again and I think that it's worth giving it a try!
