I have severe arthritis in my spine and use a prescription topical gel for relief. The problem was reaching my mid-back which is where the worst pain was. I had one of these applicator several years ago for spreading on sun tan lotion, and had loved it so immediately thought of it when this latest issue came up. But for some reason, I was not able to find it locally and so had ordered 2 or 3 others that simply weren't as good but cost a lot more money. Since I shop Amazon almost exclusively now, I decided to try it one day and was thrilled to see my old favorite. I bought 2 and they are perfect! The handle is long enough to reach any area and the applicator sponge is firm enought that the gel or lotion isn't absorbed but is available for your back. I have one for my gel and one for lotion and am going to order a couple more to have one hand.
