Customer Reviews of L.E.D. Fiberoptic Otoscope - Halogen OPHTHALMOSCOPE Diagnostic Kit with Soft Protective Leatherette Case!Customer Review: Great but not perfect Summary: 4 Stars
I agree with the all the reviews about the light source. I purchase the non-LED scopes and return them (see my other review). The otoscope has strong bring white light and great for detail exam. However, it does not fit the Welch Allyn specular piece as claimed and often fell off. I am able to manage using it but can be a problem when seeing young children.
Also the ophthalmoscope is fair quality. I have to say the Welch Allyn one has better optic technology and much easier to see the fundi than this scope. (I spent time learning to look at fundi from my optometry friends while in med school and acquired good skills) But it will do the job for seeing Red Reflex in infant. I wonder, does this fit the ophthal scope head made by Welch Allyn? If it does, it will be a good combination.
Customer Review: Revised: Prompt response with shipping issue Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this set (that looks the same but doesn't say halogen) and it came without the ophthalmoscope head. The owner was quick in answering and said she would send the ophthalmoscope. I stated that I no longer wanted the set because I felt unsure about how the order was handled. I wanted to return it in its entirety. I received a RMA code with explanation that the ophthalmoscope did not come. I did not unwrap anything other than the case to check the contents and revealed the missing head.
I sent it back within 3 days of receipt. They credited me back all but $7.67 which included a partial refund of my original S&H. At first I thought it was not credited correctly but I was wrong.
Thank for their help.
Customer Review: A++++++++ plus plus Summary: 5 Stars
Could not be happier. I can't believe how bright the light is on this otoscope or how well I can visualize the tympanic membrane. The ophthalmoscope is ok and doesnt come with the colored light or the cross hairs that my classmates Welch Allyn ophthalmoscope does but overall it is a decent enough for my purpose.
Bottom line the ophthalmoscope in the kit is not the quality of the Welch Allyn but the otoscope is amazing and is without doubt IMHO superior to the Welch Allyn. My classmate also paid almost 4 times as much for his oto/ophthal kit. I feel I definitely got my money's worth with my purchase.
Customer Review: Totally inadequate for eye exams Summary: 1 Stars
I make almost daily rounds at the local hospital examining newborns. This product is extremely frustrating for examining the red reflex, especially in a bright post-partum room. For some reason the LED light produced is not transmitted sufficiently well through the proprietary opthalmoscope head that comes with the product. Can you imagine trying to visualize the deeper eye structures? I've had to revert to my big Welch Allyn opthalmoscope to perform this part of the exam. My advice to you: invest in a higher quality product. It'll be worth your money.
Customer Review: Prompt delivery Summary: 5 Stars
The item itself seems like it could cost a bit less but overall it does its job. The light is excellent but the glass is not as strong a magnifier as some of the other ones I have used. This scope requires 2 C batteries and they seem to last well. The tips you need for this scope aren't the usual tips you find in the office so be prepared to buy some extra ones. Overall the seller is fantastic and very reliable so I would recommend the item.
