Customer Reviews of L`EAU D`ISSEY for Men by Issey Miyake 4.2oz EDT SPCustomer Review: What on earth was I thinking: pungent and indeed long lasting. Summary: 3 Stars
When I was younger I used to wear Issey Miyake because I thought it smelled exotic and, well truth be told it's sold at a pretty decent price as far as colognes go. However I must give this a proper, unbiased rating.
The fragrance is simply creative in design, extremely citric so to speak, almost makes your stomach curl a little (but in a good way, it'll make heads turn that's for sure), and it is extremely potent. A little bit will ensure that you smell for hours and hours. I realize how bad this is coming out but it's the truth, all I can say is stop in a Sephora and try it before you buy it, otherwise you might be disappointed... for hours and hours.
Unfortunately Issey Miyake isn't really all that original. There are thousands upon thousands of citrus fragranced products like this. Does Issey Miyake break the statuesque? I suppose so, but it's nothing that lasts. People say that they were it day in and day out... if you wear this product for more than a few weeks, I'd be extremely surprised... the sharp, harsh smell simply gets to you after a while.
I'm sorry, for creativity and short term appeal I'm going to have to give this a 3. Having some experience with different brands since my school years, I don't find this all that remarkably, and I certainly don't think it has a hell of a lot of staying power.
Tastes are different, please take this review for what it is - a negative review for a product that relies solely upon individual preference, and rate it whether or not you think it was slightly helpful, even if you disagree (a logical thing rarely done on Amazon).
Customer Review: Befuddled Summary: 1 Stars
I am just befuddled over why this product is rated so high by other reviews. I decided to buy this when the cologne I normally use, Aqua di Gio, ran out. I bought this because it was consistently rated so high and because there was a review that actually said this was very similar to Aqua. I consistently got compliments for Aqua, while this stuff repels bugs. The tones when first sprayed are of lemon Pledge, the middle tones are dull and musty like mothballs, and the drydown smells of only strong tobacco. I have used this product for about two months, hoping I would grow to like it, but just realized how terrible it was when I was reminded how good Aqua Di Gio smelled at the cologne counter at the mall. Aqua also has a tobacco undertone, but is also tangy and fresh. This stuff reminds me of Drakkar Noir which I also never understood and which I think smells like deodorant. I have ordered another bottle of Aqua di Gio and will be giving away this nearly-full bottle to whoever is competing for the next woman I am vying for.
Customer Review: The most remarkable fragrance I've used Summary: 5 Stars
I first received L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme from a girlfriend who has always had immaculate taste, and her choices have all been well received. But L'Eau d'Issey stands out as the one that gets the most comments - all positive - from both friends and total strangers. It's actually become a bit of a laugh at my favorite Starbuck's because of the frequency that women in line will offer a favorable remark (it's happened once or twice with others, Victoria Secret's Very Sexy is one I recall, but Issey Miyake is way, way ahead in that respect). And like one of the other reviewers, I have had men also ask about it (usually with some disclaimer to start with).
I carry the refillable travel spritz when on the road since I consider this one of my basics. It works well but appears to leak a bit of volume - nothing major, and it doesn't smell up my toiletry bag or anything else in the suitcase, but I'll usually run out on longer trips.
Customer Review: Very nice scent Summary: 5 Stars
This is the only cologne I have bought thus far, but it smells delicious. Aqua is completely overplayed, and while it smells similar to l'eau, they are still very different and easily distinguishable. I feel as though L'eau D'issey is more of a mature smelling cologne, while Aqua is what you'll typically find on guys in high school to their early twenties in dance clubs. Perhaps that explains the lone 1 star review. It's always good to try out samples beforehand though because not everyone has the same tastes.
One thing I should note is that after a long night of dancing at parties, I notice it gets kind of a funky smell. It's not very noticeable and it's probably due to sweating a lot, but this is my experience. However, it's not significant enough to knock any stars off the review. I definitely recommend.
Customer Review: If you're tired of Acqua Di Gio... Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this cologne based on many many favorable reviews. I have over 20 major brand colognes and this is one of my favorites. It is ALMOST identical to Acqua DI Gio except it has kept in check the aspects of Di Gio I didn't care for. It is just a tad less sweet, perhaps by the addition of grapefruit to the top notes that gives it a more sophisticated distinction from DI Gio. There are no unpleasant tones to this cologne and it seems to last a while. The bottle is stylish and very tall compared to all of my other ones, but the box is pretty plain. It is not quite as casual as HUGO and would work well when you MUST make a good impression. It doesn't appear to be as overdone and popular as some others, so you can still mark your territory, perhaps because it's a bit pricey.
