We bought the Robi Comb and it seems to have worked....so decided to try the repellent. I sprayed it on my daughter's hair before school, and the smell was so bad I made her stay home and wash her hair! It smelled just like RAID.
After looking at the ingredients (oh how I wish I had done this prior to using it) one of the ingredients listed is phenoxyethanol. This is used in insecticides, and the FDA warned that phenoxyethanol can cause shut down of the central nervous system, vomiting and contact dermatitis. The MSDS saftey sheet says "Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. May cause reproductive defects. Severe eye and skin irritant."
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!! Instead, just use TeaTree oil shampoo / conditioner to repel lice. Yes, teatree oil smells somewhat medicinal, but it's safe and effective.

i am looking at the box i just purchased. i followed up on the reviewer who ranted about phenoxyethanol and was completely disturbed. before you purchase this product please read about phenoxyethanol. safe? kid formula? amazing that this chemical is in a product that states it has "no chemicals." what? this non-chemical has a rap sheet like a hardened criminal. liceguard website declares it is a non-toxic product. but, everywhere you look online declares the chemical's toxicity. it might be effective, but man, it will be my LAST resort. i'm sticking with tea tree oil.Customer Review: Effective Product

When I first found out about this product, I began to use it with my daughter (after we finally got rid of a lice problem)! She remained free from lice as long as she used it. Since I'm a teacher and I'm often around elementary students, I never leave home without it! I haven't had lice since I've been using Lice Guard, even though I've been at risk. My 9yr old had a lice problem that started at her school and after trying some ineffective shampoos and other old home remedies, we purchased all of the liceguard products and finally were able get rid of the lice. I'm not sure if this actully works, because my daughter had a freak until I washed it out. It smells like a cheap air freshener that is used in a men's room bathroon in a gas station. Unfortunately, they will not accept returns if the product has been opened. Oh well. I would suggest another method to repel lice.
