Customer Reviews of Larabar Bars Variety Pack Of Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, And Lemon Bar, 1.6-Ounce Bars (Pack of 18)Customer Review: The best bar available Summary: 5 Stars
I first tried Larabars at a health fair booth held at a grocery store where I normally shop. I am not a health food nut, but I try to eat 'healthily' most of the time. The taste was incredibly good, and as a snack, the Larabar filled me up until mealtime, which is a crucial feature of any snack for me. I love the fact that the bars are primarily based on fruits and nuts with no artificial ingredients (i.e. you can usually count the number of ingredients in the bar on one hand). Other bars that boast to be primarily fruit and nut based do not taste anywhere near as good as these. Additionally, the Larabars are true to the flavors listed, e.g. apple pie, cherry pie, lemon bar. Especially noticeable is the cherry pie bar which is great and loaded with the taste of real cherries (I usually dislike cherry products as most usually taste artificial and medicinal). Other products in the line are great as well, e.g. key lime pie, pecan pie. However, as a note of caution, I do not like any of the chocolate bars in the Larabar line. Their strength is in the fruit and nut based flavors.
Customer Review: Convenient, yummy, economical Summary: 5 Stars
I am often too busy to do more than grab food that is on hand and leave my house (but I hate paying nasty markups on nutritionally devoid food-like stuff while I'm out and about). These solve the issue nicely:
They're yummy. Cherry and lemon varieties especially but the apple cinnamon bars really are ok too.
They are about a buck apiece - sounds expensive for a tiny little bar (they are, in fact small - like a snack from a country where portion sizes reflect what is needed), but when you consider that it's all nuts and fruit, you realize that that's about what you'd pay for a similar amount of those anyway.
Oh yeah, and they're not striped of nutrients like other snack bars that claim to contain real fruit, but turn out to only contain white grape juice as a sweetener - no recognizable fruit bits.
I love them, I'm subscribe-and-saved to them (<3), and yes, I am biased. If you disagree with my opinion anyway...
:)
Customer Review: Love the Apple Pie, Cherry so-so, spit out the Lemon Summary: 3 Stars
I used to buy Lara bars at Costco but I haven't seen them for a while so I bought them here. I am a Celiac (intolerant to gluten) and am limited to my snack choices, especially those that are convenient to take on road trips. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the Apple Pie bars - the flavor is exactly like the pie I remember and loved so much, the Cherry Pie is very strong flavored - but that is to be expected because the dried cherries concentrate in flavor, they tasted like I expected them to do. But I bought this flavor pack because of a review on the Lemon bars and was hoping they would be tangy and tasty, Lemon Pledge would have been nicer. I guess the dried lemon concentrates in flavor, too, but they sure didn't taste anywhere as expected. (The Chocolate is yucky, too) But I still gave this product 3 stars because the Apple Pie bars are yummy and they do not crumble like other gluten-free fruit/nut bars and do not make an unholy mess in my lap or car.
Customer Review: Delicious & healthy snack Summary: 4 Stars
Larabar bars are a healthy snack the whole family can enjoy. Every ingredient is natural ~ no high fructose corn syrup - yah!! For example, the cherry pie ingredients are: dates, almonds & unsweetened cherries.
These bars don't look very appetizing, but they are! They look like condensed rectangles of fruit & finely chopped nuts. There is no outside shell of chocolate or fig newtonish shell (if that makes sense). My kids thought they looked disgusting. But when they tried them, they loved them.
The kids like the apple pie one the best, which is good because it is my least favorite. Too cinnamonny for me. I LOVE the lemon & cherry as they are both a little on the tartish side. (we haven't given any to my husband to try because we are too greedy & don't want to share!!)
Customer Review: Does Not Actually Include the Promised Flavors! Summary: 2 Stars
Oh is it too much to expect that if the box advertises Cherry, Apple, and Lemon, you might actually receive said flavors? It's False. Apparently the Lemon has been discontinued. You won't get the right mix, instead you'll receive Cherry, Apple, and Chashew!! Perhaps I'm being choosey, but I find Lemon vs. Cashew to big a large difference (One is a light citrus, the other is a fatty nut). I'm only taking the time to belabor the point because the people from DAB didn't seem to notice the difference. In fact if I hadn't spoken up they would have made the exact same mistake. The costumer service rep didn't even realize the flavor was discontinued. All I'm saying...Lara Bars are delicious, but there are many vendors where you can purchase them. If you want to maintain your sanity, get them somewhere else!
