Customer Reviews of LiceGuard Robi Comb Electronic Lice Comb

Customer Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yesterday I discovered my 6 year old daughter has lice. I went and bought a 3 step OTC for treatment. I followed the directions to the T for the shampoo, yet when it was time to comb out the dead lice (so said the instructions), they were all still alive! Every last one of them. I could have saved a ton of money by just buying a comb!

I found this product at a local major pharmacy. I tested it out on myself and all was clear. Then I sat my 7 year old son down. He has 4 inch long hair. He has Asperger's so he didn't like me touching his hair. Sensory overload for him. I didn't think I would find anything because I have been spot checking him for the last 2 days. He didn't like me combing through his hair with this because it pulled a little bit and he is very sensitive and didn't like all the touching of his head. When I was almost done with he last portion of his hair, the buzzing stopped. I took the comb out, and what do you know! I got one! There is no way my son is going to sit and let me do this to him everyday so I shaved his head. Once we are clear of the epidemic, I'll let him grow it out again. Then it was my daughters turn. I must have done pretty good with the treatment comb because I didn't find any lice her today. But I will continue to use this everyday for about 2 weeks. This product is wonderful, and it protected my son from a full blown infestation.

Customer Review: Robi-comb is a big help with lice
Summary: 4 Stars

We are currently battling our second lice infestation of the year on our daughter. Her hair is very fine and dense and long so lice are big problem.

Home remedies like mayonnaise did not work, and RID was totally useless.

The only sure-fire thing that worked for us was Lindane-based shampoo (old trade name was Kwell). That worked 100% in 1 application, all lice and nits killed instantly with no recurrence. This is very hard to get however.

This time our doctor prescribed us a 1% pyrmethrin shampoo which is better than stuff like RID (which is 0.5%, some others are 0.33%, and these are not pure pyrmethrin) but it is not as good as Lindane as we are still zapping a few live ones and finding some nits.

That's where the Robi-comb comes in. It is really great at zapping lice, it even kills the nymphs that are so small you'd almost certainly miss them in a visual inspection.

I am not sure how well it works on killing nits. It seems to me like if it really did that we wouldn't be zapping 2-6 lice every night as the nits would all be dead. It is possible that I missed them and didn't run them through the comb. But that said, the comb does a great job on the lice themselves. It's like a bug-zapper comb and I have been pleasantly surprised how good it works on the super-small ones.

Customer Review: Don't tase me bro!
Summary: 4 Stars

I skimmed these reviews and decided to make the investment, since I was about to shell out another $10 for a new bottle of tea tree oil. I admit I was skeptical. The way it works really is by electrocuting the lice. I had been trying to find them manually in my 8 year old's hair (and then my nearly 3 year old's hair). Honestly, I am very much on the OCD side and we were all losing sleep over my poring over every hair follicle. I felt this product would help me go through the live-bug detection quicker so I could move on to egg removal, which is also very painstaking! At any rate, I was laughing when I accidentally passed my own fingers over the teeth because I got a tiny little jolt, which is when I realized we were hitting the lice with a taser! Take that! Sometimes it take a few moments for the beeping to start back up again. That's because some lice take a little longer to die. I use an optivisor to help magnify what's in the comb. One of the buggers was fighting! These must be the new mutant tea tree resistant lice! I also get to use it on myself so I'll know if I'm just being paranoid or if they actually did jump to my head. So, the Robi comb is worth the investment in this house full of long haired women who don't want to have shaved heads.

Customer Review: Extremely Helpful
Summary: 5 Stars

I had one of these until today, I stuck the plastic top piece and the comb into boiling water to clean and OOPs! forgot about it. I would like to give my opinion of this thing while I am here. I read many reviews stating that they didn't work. Unless theirs was faulty, they must not be using it correctly. This electronic comb buzzes along through your hair and when it hits a bug (and sometimes the nits) it either squeals or stops making noise at all. When you finish pulling it through the hair (all the way to the end is best) you will most likely find a little dead body. These are wonderful because you can just use them over and over. They even pull out a few of the looser or larger nits. I use it regularly on myself and my children and we just detected some new bugs last night. ( why do you get them at least once a year?) I am ordering a new one pronto! They also work on pets for fleas and mites. Yes, you do still need to shampoo and comb out the nits--but in between the shampooing and combing you can safely use this over and over. I caught my daughter's so early with this comb, that I was able to comb out all the nits and bugs in just under an hour, and if you've ever dealt with lice, you know what a blessing that is!

Customer Review: Should be REQUIRED it is so effective for lice
Summary: 5 Stars

The Robicomb is the best tool against a lice infestation available on the market. Our 7 yr old brought this home from 1st grade and school has sent numerous letters home other infestations. We chose the NIX treatment over RID and purchased the Robicomb. The gate between the tines is smaller than that of the other lice combs in the shampoo products. Unlike the lice shampoo's, that only effect the nervous system of lice/louse, thus killing them over time, the Robicomb kills lice/louse on contact as well as gets the nymph's as they hatch. The Robicomb also is effective at removing some of the larger NIT, however, true NIT removal has to be done strand by strand, hair by hair and it is a long, tedious, horrific process.

Pop in a double AA battery, turn the switch "ON" and it makes a high pitch sound. Run the comb through the hair, against the scalp and when a lice/louse comes in contact with the electrified tines, the sound stops so you know you have a captor. Flush them down the toilet when caught.

The Robicomb is the single best lice/louse removal tool we can find. It is excellent at checking future infestations and if you have kids, it should be right next to the thermometer in a drawer.
