Customer Review: Looking for the best - look no further

Before buying the UA-583AC, I had used another LifeSource model, the UA-767T. I had taken that one with me to my family doctor's office and had the nurse compare accuracy of this model with the readings she took with a sphygmomanometer. The UA-767T compared very favorably. So, why look further, why buy another? Mainly because I wanted a monitor that included an AC adapter, which my older model did not.
I first tried an Omron model, but it produced an error message in 3 of the first 4 efforts to get a reading. So I returned it to Amazon.Com (and received a credit for the return) and started reading reviews of several other models. On finding that the LifeSource UA-853AC had earned many 5-star ratings from Amazon.Com reviewers, I oredered UA-853AC.
The first few days I compared readings with my trusty UA-767T and found the two models were within a point or two of each other for systolic, diastolic and pulse. I was surprised at how much I was able to apply easier the cuff. The older self-pumping unit generated a very high, virtually hurtful, pressure in the cuff, as a necessary condition of obtaining an accurate reading. The newer unit, also self-pumping, generated such a modest amount of pressure, I wondered on first try if there was any way an accurate measurement could be obtained. Much to my pleasant surprise, the UA-853AC is extremely sensitive and obtains an accurate measurement with far less cuff pressure.
Although this unit can be AC-operated, the manual advises that the supplied four (4) AA batteries should be inserted as well. The main reason for that, I suppose, is that the monitor maintains a long-term record of AM versus PM readings as well as averages of the same.
I also like the sleek, modern shape and design of this UA-583AC, the large LED display and the bold large characters on the display. If you are looking for the best, look no further. I strongly recommend this one.
