Customer Review: Didn't do much for me, unfortunately

I wanted this to work, and gave it a good trial over several months, but it didn't do much for me. I hoped this would help shift my sleep pattern earlier and give me more energy and a better mood, but although I used the device daily in the suggested way for months on end (as well as researched the entire subject area on the internet for many, many hours and followed all suggestions that were practicable), using this device didn't seem to make a difference for me. However, delayed phase sleep patterns are known to be very resistant to change. I am not sure that any lightbox could make much of a difference for me.
The device did give me a kind of dazed, tingly feeling in the brain (this is probably what other reviewers have compared to the feeling of drinking a caffeinated beverage, although caffeine does not do that to me) during and for some time after the treatment session. I wouldn't classify this as making me feel more energetic or awake though, just tingly and dazed.
Some positives:
-The device is wired so that it can be used with different electricity systems in various countries, which is a big help to travellers. It also comes with several plug adapters for those other countries.
-The device has a battery so it can be used away from an electrical socket.
-The device is small and lightweight.
-The device comes with a carrying case.
-The manufacturer's printed instructions and website are moderately helpful, moderately straightforward and not prone to spouting unsubstantiated mumbo-jumbo as some other lightbox manufacturers' are.
-The device seems to be moderately well-made and sturdy.
Some negatives:
-The battery does not last very long. The battery on mine seems to last slightly less than one hour, and the instructions say not to use it until it dies, but to stop it when it seems to be close to dying, so that makes me nervous when I am using it during the last 15 minutes of the battery life, because I don't want it to die before I turn it off.
-The device is meant to sit on a table and be aimed up at your eyes. This is an unnatural position for light to be aimed at the eye -- it's like sunlight reflecting off of snow on the ground or off of water, which gives me an unpleasant feeling. I wish that the device came with a little extendable platform or something whereby it could be positioned above the head and aimed downwards, like light beams naturally enter the eye, and which is the recommended position for lightbox devices. I rigged up my own kind of platform above my eye level on my desk to try to simulate this with the device, but the device's "door" needs to sit to one side and makes manipulation of it kind of tricky.
-The device uses many tiny halogen (or whatever) type of bulbs (not replaceable) instead of the larger bulbs (usually replacable) that are used in other devices. I think that I recall learning that the bulbs in this device have a different, smaller light spectrum than most of the lightbox devices that have been researched and marketed up to now, but I'm not knowledgeable about lighting technology so I won't make any claims about this.
-When the bulbs or the battery goes on this device, they can't be replaced, so the usable life of the device might be shorter than that of other lightboxes.
-The worst negative for me, which I'm surprised that no other reviewers have mentioned, is that although it can be operated when it's plugged in to an electrical socket, I find that when mine is plugged in that the little lightbulbs seem to FLICKER at a fast rate which is very disturbing to my vision. When my device operates on battery power without being plugged into the electrical socket, the flickering does not happen. I have tested this many times. So while it's easy to say, "Don't worry about the less-than-1-hour battery life or the fact that the battery only has a finite number of charges before the whole thing becomes unusable, just use the device when it's plugged in to the wall", that doesn't work for me.
