The Litebook Elite Hand Held Light Therapy Device - A18653 reminds me of my Mac laptop. It was obviously designed with great care--it just feels right. It is well weighted, solid but not heavy, and can be used on a desk or table top or can be hand-held. The automatic timer turns it off after thirty minutes (you can easily reprogram the length of time if you like). The self contained, hinged cover serves as a stand to hold the light in the proper position. It is convenient to use and extremely portable. The rechargeable battery holds four 30 minute uses and they even include a little travel bag and different plugs for international travel. The white light feels clean and stimulating. Since it is LED it is directionally focused and there is very little scatter. The only thing I would change is to make the angle of the stand adjustable. Since I sit tall, I put the Litebook on a couple of books to direct it up to my eyes. This is an elegant piece of technology. I would recommend the Litebook if portability or space are key considerations for you. This device is compact and very portable. It comes in a nice carrying case with power adapters for other countries. I was able to take it to work and use it at my desk, and only the people sitting next to me noticed it. So, I would recommend it for use during travel or at the office.
However, the small size that makes it so portable is also Litebook's biggest negative. The area of light projected was small enough that I felt like I had to sit in one position the whole time I was using it just to keep my eyes within the appropriate range. I have now purchased a larger device, and while it takes up a lot more space, it allows me more freedom of movement. If you are just using your device at home I would suggest a larger one.
I also felt the battery on the Litebook depleted very quickly. If you purchase this product, I would recommend using it with the power cord whenever possible, and only using the battery when you really need to.

It was suggested that I purchase this product to help with symptoms associated with Bi-Polar Disorder. I believe that it also is quite beneficial for SAD, too. I am pleased thus far.
I don't know if it is a placebo effect, but my days seem to be better when I use it for at least 15 minutes in the morning.....although, I prefer 30 minutes for maximum results. The battery does not last long when not plugged in, so I leave it plugged in all the time. It sits by my computer while I check and reply to emails or do on-line banking. Quite convenient. I am gald I purchased it. However it is a bit expensive for this economy....would not have been able to purchase it if it had not been offerred at a better price on Amazon.

I did a fair amount of research before I bought this product for my winter blues. The deciding factor for me is it is the only commercially-available light I could find that has been used in scientific studies proving its efficacy.
I think it definitely works for me and it is so small and portable and comes with all the international adapters in a convenient carry bag.
I even took it home with me for the holidays and had my parents use it according to the directions for seniors to help with sleep trouble. My father felt that it made a significant difference in just a little over a week since he went from waking up 8 times a night to just 2.

i spent a lot of time looking at different sites to find what i wanted for a xmas gift for my daugther. amazon had the best price. when my daugther receive it, it turned out to include all the cords, chargers, and instructions that were needed but not mentioned as being included. i took a chance with amazon and they came thru. my daugther loves the Litebook elite hand-held! she lives in Minnesota and needed the light to lift her mood. so far we haven't been able to tell if it has but just having such a convenient device that she can use at work in her "cube" or take in her briefcase when she goes on business trips has lifted her mood.
