It absolutely removes the hair and in places that are impossible to reach without someone else to help, so it's less embarassing. It is not a clean shave, though, so while it improves back hair problems, it does not eliminate them. It is cheaply constructed, which is concerning. The worst thing about being a guy is having hair in all the wrong places the older you get. Back being one of the most embarrassing of them all, the Mangroomer is the greatest! It looks quite compact like a set of numchuks in the package, but then opens up and slides to any length you want. Main point, it shaves off all your back hair and without any stress. Also, it has a wide blade, so it works well on the underarms also. Customer Review: An incredibly cheap peice of s**t....but it does work

Seriously, its clear the manufacturers behind this make the Mangroomer as cheaply as possible. It feels like a made-in-china plastic toy you'd get at the dollar store. The handle is covered in fake rubber that smells like paint thinner, the plastic is incredibly cheap, and when you extend it it barely keeps from falling apart. On first use I had to use duct tape to get it not to collapse upon itself. Oh, and its powered with double-A batteries, no nicads, no charger. Like, really guys? Obviously these things are produced for about a buck and a half each.
But, on the plus side, it does work. I was able to cut down the man forest in about 10 minutes, and to be honest it worked better than I thought it would. Not perfect, but pretty good. Surprisingly, it seemed to actually work better on thicker hair, while having trouble with the thinner patches that are close to the skin. It does scratch a bit, but I'm guessing with experience that will subside. And since they've pretty much got the market cornered here, I'd still recommend the buy. Yes it is horribly cheap, but for about half the price of a back wax, what do you have to lose? Until something better comes along, this looks like the best thing out there if you want to shave solo.
No joke though, I'd gladly pay double for the design if they would up the quality.

This thing is a trimmer, NOT a shaver. It leaves stubble, so don't expect great results. It's also very poorly made. The battery cover falls off easily and when it doesn't, hair trimmings enter the battery compartment. The handle is wobbly. The whole thing is made from the cheapest of plastics. Honestly, this is the junkiest thing I have purchased in a long time. It belongs in a dollar store and is certainly not worth the $40! I only wish there were more alternatives.Customer Review: a perfect invention

I can't believe I went my whole life without this invention. I have moderate back hair, and it's always been impossible to remove it myself. This razor worked perfectly! You do need 2 mirrors, so you can see what you're doing. But in literally 30 seconds, all the hair was gone. It's now 3 days later, and no skin irritation at all. We'll just have to see how long it is before my back needs another trimming.
I could not be happier with this, and it's the best $40 bucks I've spent in a long time. 100% satisfied.
