Customer Review: SOME HINTS ON BUYING
Summary: 5 Stars

I suppose there's a website for anything. Here's one for nose hair trimmers:

I've had a Mangroomer for a few years, and it works fine. It gets points for the name of the product. Sounds like something out of a Seinfeld episode.

One of the problems is that the battery terminals get coated with natural corroison and the contraption stops working. I think any battery operated appliance that is kept in a moist environment like a bathroom is going to get the battery contacts coated.

My original Mangroomer machine gave out, and I was a little mad, but then I realized I had owned it for probably 4 years. That would seem like an acceptable time for a $15 machine to last.

There's a Panasonic model that looks very much like this one, but reviewers say it doesn't work as good as past models. I don't get the point of a "mirrored top" or a light on the Panasonic models. You stick this type of machine in your nose or ear and when you don't hear it cutting hair, you're done. I'm not going to need to have a mirrored top of a light so I can style my nose hairs. "Nice nose hair cut. Can I get the name of your stylist?" I don't think so.

Customer Review: Mangroomer nose hair trimmer
Summary: 3 Stars

I originally started by buying the Wahl nose hair trimmer, but it died pretty quickly. It wasn't very powerful but it trimmed the hairs okay. The quality was sub-par, and the top would constantly pop off, so when it died I decided to try something else.

Next, I bought the Panasonic Panasonic ER421KC trimmer. The quality & power was much better than the Wahl, and the Panasonic trimmed better too. But I was pretty disappointed that it only lasted about a year and a half before it died as well.

A couple of months ago I bought this Mangroomer nose hair trimmer. The quality is similar to the Panasonic, but it doesn't cut nearly as well. If I go slow enough, it'll cut the hairs. Otherwise, the Mangroomer likes to pull hairs. I'm not too impressed by it so far (after 2-3 uses). It's not terrible, but it's bad enough that I decided to write this review for the 3 trimmers I've used.

We'll see how long the Mangroomer lasts. But based on trimming, I'd have to say the Panasonic is the best I've used so far. Obviously, I'm still pretty disappointed that it didn't last longer though. After only +/- 18 months of use (and only using it twice a month at the very most), I expected to get more out of it.

I'd like to try something else (if / when the Mangroomer dies) but I don't currently see anything else on Amazon which has received good enough reviews.

Customer Review: Very Impressive
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an outstanding trimmer! It trims even the really fine hairs around your nose and ears and it doesn't bite your skin.

Update: After using this just a couple times, it suddenly stopped working. A new battery did no good. Upset, I first inquired about exchanging through Amazon for a new one, but they were out of stock. I was offered a refund - including shipping charges - but I decided to write Mangroomer first to see what they had to say and that's where this becomes a very happy story.

They responded to my email within three hours and they requested a digital photo of the product, a detailed explanation of the problem and my order number from their website. Order number? Uh, oh. I didn't buy it from them, so all I had was my Amazon invoice, a photo of which I sent them along with the other information they'd requested.

They again responded very quickly, apologized for the issue and asked for my mailing address because they were sending me TWO new trimmers to replace the bad one and I did not need to send the bad one back.

The replacements arrived two days later and while I've only used one of them, I've had absolutely no problems at all after a few weeks of use. I am extremely impressed when a company stands behind its product this strongly and be assured they won a life long customer with their handling of this situation.

Customer Review: The right tool for the job!
Summary: 5 Stars

Worth every penny.

This is the real deal: a good nose and ear hair trimmer. If you're looking for something to trim your sideburns or other manscaping chores, I'd recommend the Wahl 5537N. Ladies, if you're looking for something to trim your eyebrows or upper lip, keep moving. This baby's optimized for one job: taming the jungle sprouting out the caves in a man's head.

The business end of a good nose and ear hair trimmer is shaped like the top of a domed bird cage. To be effective, the spinning blades have to cut on both the sides and top of the dome. (The top of the dome being the end of the trimmer you stick in your nose or ear.) I've had several trimmers that cost 1/3 less and worked 1/100th as well. I'm just throwing away a Remington model NE-300 because it only cuts on the sides, not the top.

The Mangroomer mows down the hedges like crazy. Completely painless; no cuts or pinching. Sure it could stand a little more power, but I'm not sure I'd want the additional battery weight. Easy to clean, just rinse the blades and head in water.

As delivered, this model gets the job done right for me.

As always: YMMV.

Customer Review: Best I've used so far
Summary: 5 Stars

Note: I can only review this product for nose hair trimming, since I do not have a need to trim my ear hairs, I have no idea how effectively it does that.

I have tried at least 4 different nose hair trimmers... panasonic, kesington, sharper image, and some other brand I bought from Filene's basement. Each had one or both of the following two problems and I was never satisfied with any of them. The Mangroomer product has none of these problems:

1) Pulls your longer nose hairs as it cuts. Ouch! Some of the other products I had would do this and once in a while it would sting really bad. This product has never pulled hairs, it cuts very easily.

2) Does not cut the hairs close to the inside of the nostril. Some products do a good job cutting long hairs, but don't cut it enough and fail at cutting close to the nostril. This product does a very good job. I don't even need to use a mirror, I just twirl it in my nose for a few minutes each side and I'm good.

Highly recommend this product.
