It's a HOT water bottle - why anyone would want to put ice in it...??!! I purchased it because it was 100% rubber (natural, sustainable, etc...) rather than plastic (phthalates). Yes, it smells like rubber, but it diminishes with use. No leaks. Shipping was fast.
What truly amazed me was how long it retains heat. I put nearly boiling water in it at night, wrap it in a thin towel - place it in the bed (under the covers) near my feet, and in the morning, it's still warm (not hot, but warm). We're talking 6-8 hours of heat. I do have a foam mattress, so it may be the combo of the two.

The product has a low quality and cheap look and emits a very strong plastic smell when filled with hot water. Also the opening is very small and hence when pulling hot water in, the air pressure tend to eject the hot water back out! Not the safest thing to happen. I was very disappointed as I had a hot water bottle for which I purchased from Boot in UK and it was much better than this one. Perhaps it was that experience that led me to believe that all hot water bottles should have roughly similar quality level but clearly I am mistaken.Customer Review: Foul Stench

This hot water bottle fulfills its hot water bottle mission--it can be filled with hot water and will warm you right up. But it goes one step farther: It smells so strongly of plastic that it will also cause anything it comes in contact with to reek, so much so that long after its heat has dissipated the odor is so strong that you won't worry about the cold. You don't even need to waste time heating water and filling the bottle. Just nuzzle up to it and the stench will make you forget your frigid feet.Customer Review: It's a hot water bottle!

Who knew it could be so hard to find a basic hot water bottle at a drug store? But it is! So I was happy to find these online.
I knitted several "cozies" for these for holiday gifts, it holds the heat in nicely and it just makes it more enjoyable to curl up with something soft and pretty rather than the plain hot water bottle.
The price on these is fabulous, and you get the best value if you order several and save on shipping. Shipping from this seller, by the way, is nice and speedy!

Growing up I refused to have an electric blanket on my bed and instead opted for the safer alternative as I saw it. I bought these for my kids and the faint rubbery smell instantly took me back 20 years! They loved their hot water bottles in winter and now it is getting warmer they miss their comfort. Not only good for keeping kids toasty, I have used a hot water bottle to ease toothache, period pain and post natal tenderness. I wouldn't be without it.
