Customer Reviews of Mack's Silicone Earplugs - White - 6 pairCustomer Review: Can't sleep without them! Summary: 5 StarsMy husband and I both sleep with Mack's Pillow Soft Earplugs every night. At first I used them only for travel, but I liked them so much I sleep with them every night now. We no longer hear the neighborhood dogs bark at night, and they mask my husband's snoring so well that I can fall asleep. In fact they work so well, that my alarm clock sometimes has to go to the second "alert" level of beeping in the morning before I do hear it. My cell phone has a high enough pitch ring (the T-Mobile standard ringtone) that I never miss a call on that with the earplugs in, but I don't hear my house phone at all.
For those who seem to have trouble, I would suggest using them the way my husband and I do. We break them in half, roll the piece into a round ball, and flatten it out into your ear. A little bit will actually go into your ear canal, but that's OK. Don't try to make a pointed end or anything like that. Just let a bit squish into your ear. You'll get a much better sound seal this way, and you extend the product by using only 1 instead of 2 at a time. They last me at least a week, usually 2 weeks before I have to replace them. This will vary depending on how much ear wax you manufacture, I suppose. I hope the tip helps.
Oh, and agree with other comments about the spongy type falling out, and the rubber ones not being comfortable. I have tried all types, and Macks is the only one I will use -- I don't even use the cheaper silicon ones, because they are too stiff. Macks is soft and pliable.
Customer Review: Provides great sound muffling and comfort Summary: 5 StarsI found these work great to significantly muffle the sound of my husband snoring, the dog barking, and all the others things that used to keep me awake. Nothing on the market totally blocks ALL sound (I've tried them all!) but these mute them to an acceptable level providing you make sure you get a good seal. Try humming while you put them in and you can easily tell the difference between a total seal or not. Unlike other plugs they are very comfortable to wear during sleep. I only get two or three nights use out of each pair, but after years of little to no sleep I will gladly purchase all I need to of these to get some much needed rest! I purchased a two pair sample pack at my local pharmacy and now have a handy little travel container to put a couple of pair in when I travel. They work great for my children also when we are traveling and they have to sleep in a hotel room with their dad snoring in the next bed.
Customer Review: Good for swimming Summary: 4 StarsThe ear plugs work great for swimming. I only wish they came in their own carrier instead of all bunched together. A carrier would make it easier to transport and keep clean.
Customer Review: Excellent Product! Summary: 5 StarsThese are great earplugs. I use them every night to block out the sounds of my roommate snoring, and it significantly minimizes any other sound there is, such as tv, music, vacuum.... everything. This is an excellent product and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Customer Review: These are the best earplugs I've used Summary: 5 StarsI've tried a lot of earplugs and these are by far the best. There is a trick to their usage, they MUST make a suction in your ear (air tight), otherwise they won't work well at all. I think a lot of the problems people are having is due to this. They are also very effective for keeping water out while swimming as I use them 3 times a week for this as well. As other people have mentioned they get dirty quickly, but I can get about 2 weeks worth of usage per pair.
