Customer Review: Finally, something that truly works!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son is 9 1/2 years old and was really down on himself about his bedwetting. The pediatrician kept telling us that he would grow out of it eventually and not to worry, but that's not an acceptable answer when your child asks you "Why can't I stay dry like the other kids". We tried a short-term medication that would allow him to go on sleepovers, but it didn't work for my son. We also did EVERYTHING else that we knew of: Good-Nites, restricting liquids, stickers & rewards, waking him up in the middle of the night - nothing worked. The cost of this alarm seemed like a small fortune at the time and my husband was very skeptical, but after using it, I can say it is the best money I have ever spent. It is much smaller than I expected, but it definitely woke my son and I up. I did sleep with my son during this time. He is usually disoriented when he wakes up and expecting him to unlatch the sensor and turn off the alarm (before it woke everyone else in the house) was expecting too much. The first 2 weeks were rough, with the alarm going off 1-2 times each night, changing clothes and sheets. By the third week, it went off 3-4 nights, but only 1 time per night. By the middle of the 4th week, he was dry (and I moved back into my own room!). It's now been 25 days, and counting, since he has had an accident and we are thrilled. He is also so proud of himself. Get this alarm! It truly does what it claims to do. The book by Bennett was helpful as well.

Customer Review: Worked for me too - very quickly

I stumbled on this item as I was researching night time potty training for my 6.5 year girl. She really wanted to get out of pull-ups but is a heavy sleeper and just was not waking up. I had tried limiting drinks, having her go right before she went to bed and waking her up a couple times at night - but it was not working. I bought this alarm and the Priva Ultra Plus Waterproof Sheet Protector, 34" x 52", White (so I could stop changing sheets in the night) The alarm comes with a chart to track progress - which I use and have found very helpful (an I am not the tracking type).

The first night it went off about 10 minutes after I put her down. I figured out - she wanted to know what it would be like in the night - fair enough. That night and two more nights, it went off about 11 PM and 5 AM pretty consistently. The 4th night the alarm went off once at 4 AM with slightly damp panties. After that she started either getting up to go potty or not needing to go until the morning. We were dry until the 10th night the alarm went off once - very damp panties. Since then we have been dry.

It has been 4.5 weeks sine we started this process. Three weeks after starting the alarm we stopped using the alarm but I have kept the sheet protector on until we get done with the progress chart which is a total of 6 weeks - about a 10 more days to go.

I would call this a HUGE success!

Customer Review: WOW!!!

I have never recommended a product with such confidence in my life. I cannot believe what a genius the Nurse Practitioner who created this is!!! My 5-Year old son has had his fifth consecutive dry night to date and started the program just 14 days ago. After 2-3 wet pull-ups per night and a lot of lost sleep during the first four days I was afraid I was in for a long haul. After 7 days, woo hoo!! first dry night. The rest is history. I will continue to keep the alarm on for 1 and 1/2 weeks like the booklet says, but I am confident and excited that I won't need it much longer.

A few suggestions.. If you can, find your baby monitor or borrow one (don't buy a new one, you won't need if for long) I didn't hear the alarm right away the first few nights and learning is quicker when you rush in as soon as it goes off. For easy clean-up the first few nights, make your child wear underwear, attach unit to outside of underwear and put a pull up on over the underwear. A bag of dollar store items that my son picked out himself was a very positive reinforcement for each dry night. I also had a few small candy prizes for him on nights that he just wore the alarm because waking up was sad for him when he knew the alarm went off. They try so hard.

What a relief. I don't know how this teaches, but it does. It is efficent and works every time. Brava!!!

Customer Review: I was skeptical until we tried it.

My daughter is 11 years old and hadn't had more than a handful of dry nights in her life. I was skeptical that an alarm would work for her because she is a very heavy sleeper. In the past when we have woken her during the night to go to the bathroom she would not remember it the next morning.

After a week with the alarm we started seeing progress. This alarm has both a sound and vibration and it woke her every time. After a few nights with the alarm waking her she was able to unhook it and take care of everything without any help. My daughter has now been completely dry for three weeks and we are going to stop using the alarm this week! Like many of the reviews I read before buying this alarm, I wish we had tried this years ago.

One of the most helpful tips I read in the product reviews was to put your child in regular underwear, but to let them where Goodnights or Pull-ups over the underwear. This worked great for us. The first couple of nights when the alarm woke her, her bed was not wet so she just had to change her underwear and Goodnight. After that, she woke up so quickly that she only had to change her underwear because the Goodnight was still dry.

Can't say enough about this product. We are so glad we finally tried it!

Customer Review: Has Helped Tremendously

We were having bedwetting issues with our oldest (6). It seemed he would sleep through anything, but the Malem alarm has worked wonders. At first he had an aversion to wearing the thing, but we made him keep doing it. Over this past weekend he was away at the grandparents and we forgot to send the alarm with. He stayed dry both nights, then came home and asked to try going without. He has stayed dry another 2 nights (waking up at night to use the rest room). We have made a big deal about dry nights and have stayed positive on wet nights. He is so proud of himself now which I think serves to reinforce the positive behavior.

Hopefully it doesn't mess our 6 y.o. up (bunks with his brother), but we started using this on our 5 y.o. last night. Once he is done we'll move right on to our almost 4 y.o. daughter. It will sure be nice to save all that extra money we are literally throwing away on night time pull ups.

My only complaint is that it seemed to give a couple false alarms (he was completely dry), and then it got stuck in alarm mode. We had to remove the detector wire from the base unit to get it to stop. After a thorough cleaning in soapy water and doing what I could to scrub the contacts with a q-tip it started working normally again.
