Customer Review: Absolutley Amazing - Just as Advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

We took a chance and purchased this for our soon-to-be 5-year-old boy. He had been wetting his bed about 75% of the time. We were doing a ton of laundry and none of us were sleeping through the night. We are not yet complete with the whole regiment, but so far, it seems to be working exactly as advertised. Here is our experience thus far (I'll update the review when we are totally complete with the regiment)
Week 1
Very Wet - 2 nights
Slightly Wet - 1 night
Dry - 4 nights

Week 2
Very Wet - 1 nights
Slightly Wet - 2 night
Dry - 4 nights

Week 3
Very Wet - 0 nights
Slightly Wet - 1 night
Dry - 6 nights

Week 4
Very Wet - 0 nights
Slightly Wet - 1 night
Dry - 6 nights

Week 5, 6, and 7 - 7 Dry nights

Our son is usually scared of sudden, loud noises, so we were a little nervous about how this would go. He liked that he got to choose out the alarm that would go off. When it woke him in the night, it did scare him and he wanted us to take it off right away, so we did. However, at bedtime each night, he wanted us to put it back on his pajamas.

I am very interested to see if he wakes up on his own (w/o the alarm going off) during the night to relieve himself - this has not happened yet. I'm also very curious how we will do when he stops wearing the alarm.

So far, everything has worked just as advertised and our son is very proud of his dry nights.

UPDATE: after 7 weeks, we have had over 3 weeks with all dry nights. We have stopped using the alarm all together. I think this really worked! He has not yet woken up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, but he has woken up early in the morning to go. He is so proud oh himself and I am pleased on so many levels!
UPDATE - Child number 2....
After being so effective with my one son who wet his bed for a few years, we let our 3.5 yo have the choice to use it since he was bed wetting every night. He wanted to use it and within 2 weeks, he was dry every night. He started waking himself up in the middle of the night when he has to use the bathroom. I LOVE this solution. It is so much less stressful for my kids to have 1-5 nights of their life waking up with an alarm rather than every single morning of waking up soaking wet and smelling of urine. The item has lasted very well with no degradation after being used for two kids.

Customer Review: Total lifesaver!!

Got this in blue for my 8 yr old daughter who was averaging about 1 or 2 dry nights a month. I did sleep in her room for the first few nights, and then relied on a baby monitor. We used a pull-up over the alarm clip(which you clip onto their underwear -- you're supposed to place it in the area where you think the first sign of wetness will occur, which is a little difficult with girls, and depends on their sleeping position). The clip is a bit awkward to use, but I have to say that it really stays put! The part of the alarm that goes on their shirt is a giant safety pin, which could rip more delicate fabrics. I took the advice of one of the reviewers to pin it to the shoulder seam of my daughter's pj's, which worked very well! The seam provides a more sturdy option, and also reduces the amount the alarm will move around during sleep.

I did have to help my daughter learn to wake up to the sound of the alarm - we both liked having the different choices of alarm sounds. The alarm was loud enough and the vibration was jolting, but my daughter is a very heavy sleeper (as I'm sure most bedwetters are). Within a few nights, she was just barely wetting her underwear before she woke up to the alarm (or before I woke her up). After about a week, she was hearing the alarm. At two weeks, she started having dry nights every night(sometimes waking up to pee, sometimes not having to go until morning). After four weeks of use, we stopped using it. Shortly after that, she had an accident two nights in a row, when we had a lot going on and she was overly tired. We put the alarm back on for just a few days, but she has not had an accident since then. That was about 6 weeks ago.

The package contains a chart that you can use for several weeks. We hung it on the fridge, and my daughter took pride in putting stickers on it for her dry or "slightly wet" nights. I had been contemplating putting her on medication (which is what her doctor had suggested), but I decided to look into the alarms and was so glad I did. I really liked this model, and was glad I chose it. I know that I could have gone with a cheaper brand, but after seeing a few negative reviews, I knew that I did not want to take a chance on starting the process and then having to stop due to a faulty alarm. I know I have ultimately saved money on pull-ups, medication, laundry, etc. If you go into this process with the right expectations of parental involvement, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Customer Review: This will cure your bedwetter!
Summary: 5 Stars

We recently bought this for our 5 year old daughter. I was going to opt for a cheaper unit and brand, but this one seems to be the most popular brand and I wanted it to work right the first time. The key to our success was that she was ready. We talked about it for awhile and then one day I told her I found a "pee pee machine" which would help her stop her bedwetting. She was excited, and I let her pick the color. She kept going back and forth from Pink to Magenta (the Pink one can pass for either) and she opted for magenta. We ordered the "ultimate" model so that she could also choose her own ring...another thing she had to look forward to.

Once I told her we ordered it and the mailman was going to bring it, she was asking me every couple of hours where the mailman was. (I think that being ready for this was part of our success.) It arrived by priority mail two days later.

She wears pull-ups to sleep. The instructions say to wear underwear under the pullups and attach the sensor to the underwear, but you can pinch the top layer of material inside the pullup enough to get a little bit of material for the sensor to clip on to, and that's how we did it. The wire from the sensor to the unit goes up through the pullup and outside her shirt and the unit attaches with a built in safety pin to her shirt. We placed it near her shoulder halfway between her arm and neck so that she would be more likely to hear it. Our initial concern that it might bother her if she sleeps on her stomach were unfounded. It never did.

She wore it like a badge of honor. They say that bedwetting is the result of too deep of sleep, and that was obvious. The first couple of days, I heard it from across the house, and jumped up and ran in to her room to wake her...she was oblivious even though this loud, vibrating alarm right near head was blaring. I sent her to the potty to finish, changed her and went back to sleep. A few times we went through this twice per night.

Within a few days she was getting the hang of it. Now, she is waking up dry most of the time, but it's only been a couple of weeks. The instructions say that it should take 12 weeks. In our case, I doubt it will take that long. If you are reading this, just go for it.

Customer Review: Sooooo Impressed
Summary: 5 Stars

We were getting frustrated with my daughter's nighttime wetness issues. We tried limiting her liquids and waking her up in the middle of the night, but nothing worked. After reading the reviews we decided to try this product.

Based on the advice in one of the reviews, I decided to ask her if she wanted the pee-pee alarm. She loved the idea and picked the color. Then she couldn't wait for it to arrive.

The first night she was dry. We couldn't believe it. The next night she experienced the alarm for the first time at about 6 am. The following night she came into our room at midnight with the alarm blaring and lights flashing- I was in a deep sleep and thought I was being abducted by aliens (I don't understand how any kids sleep through this alarm- it's very loud, and it flashes and vibrates).

After that night my daughter has been dry- 17 nights in a row. Every morning she wakes up and tells us how many dry nights she's had in a row.

One thing that I decided to do was to stop using the audio alarm because it kind of scared my daughter. Every night I "test" the alarm by setting the alarm off with the sound on. Then I secretly switch the alarm to vibrate mode. My daughter told me that she didn't like hearing the alarm- I told her that she controls the alarm and that if she stays dry then it will never wake her up again. She seemed to like the idea of her having power over the alarm.

We highly recommend this product.

*** Update- It has been less than six months and my daughter has been dry for months- we don't even think about bed-wetting any more.

Customer Review: This is better than the potty pager
Summary: 5 Stars

We tried the potty pager product sold out of Colorado, but my 6 year old would just roll over on it, or take it off at night. The company replaced it twice but we finally gave up on the product. Too many defects and it just did not wake him up. Plus the pager attached right at his private area (very uncomfortable). The Malem unit has a wire and small clip that attaches at the underwear. The Malem not only vibrates but its much louder and has 8 crazy sounds. My son is now 8, but I feel bad I waited this long to try it again. We also bought the book 7 steps to night time dryness. It pretty much promotes this alarm, but it does have some great info, like cutting out fruit at night (go figure). Well the first 4 nights he woke up wet but we have had 2 mornings in a row where he is dry. So I think we are heading down the right path. I would also recommend buying the water proof pads that the kid can sleep on. They are much easier to change and wash than the entire bed sheets. We also bought a baby monitor because we can't hear the alarm and our bedroom is on the other side of the house. We are in it together so we feel its easier to help the kid when he wakes up in the middle of the night, we are with him.
Recommendations:
1. buy the Malem
2. buy the water proof pads (babysrus for $13 set of 2)
3. buy a baby monitor if you can't hear the alarm from your bedroom
4. buy 7 steps guide ($2.00 used)
5. After we finish with the unit, we plan to sterilze it and give it to charity... if you didn't have the funds to buy this stuff, I'm sure it would be very sad and stressful. Good Luck. joesky
