I own both models of this machine, and love them equally. No need to spend more on the one with 2 settings. I actually own 3 of these. Perfect for babies room to sleep at night and take naps through the day. Perfect for me and hubby to sleep better, and for the other kids room!!! I purchased this product because I'm a light sleeper. The sound conditioner is a no-frills device that works adequately to block out unwanted noise, and overall I'm satisfied. To me it sounds like a cross between a fan and a humidifier. It's small enough to pack easily in a suitcase if you wanted to bring it with you to a hotel.Customer Review: Great sound

We bought this for the nursery and are very pleased with the sound... it is very calming and loud enough to disguise the awful little yappy dogs next door but not so loud I am worried about damaging our baby's hearing. It is not any bigger in size than any of the cheaper models we were looking at. We're satisfied with this purchse.Customer Review: White Noise

I am very pleased with this noise machine. It has no repeat pattern that you lie awake to anticipate the pattern. It is simply noise. The unit is small enought to pack in a suit case and carry it with you when you travel, which we like very much. Much better than our other machine which has sounds of wind, train, rain, etc.Customer Review: Good noise maker

This noise machine is not as loud as our last digital one, but the sound seems more natural. The baby seems to sleep better as well. A big plus is all the batteries we're saving. Our last noise machine would lose power in the middle of the night and emit a loud beeping sound and wake the baby. No chance of this one doing that!
