I ordered this one for traveling purpose. I have a G5 60G video ipod. I just got the backup battery pack today and noticed on the package that it was not compatible with "G5 Video". I called the Maxell tech support and found out it is compatible but the clip case is not compatible with G5 video. Even the manual came with the battery pack shows that G5 video is one of the ipods NOT compatible with this pack. After talking with the tech support, I opened it and tried it with my G5 60G video ipod and was relieved to find out it works. The clip on case doesn't fit with G5 60G ipod but if you don't need the case, it does work as backup battery.Customer Review: Great

I ordered this last month.
It works great with my new 80 gig ipod classic.
I was on a 17 day trip of Europe and this thing was a lifesaver.
Surprisingly I only went through 12 AA batteries. The batteries last a long time and let me watch video for hours and hours. 11 episodes of the wire at one point. Line at the airport? No problem.
It is a bit bulky but I don't mind. I'd rather have this that be a slave to a wall plug.
The only problem is I live in Canada and Amazon will not ship up here (why?!) so it was a bit of a production to get this here.
Well worth it.

My parents were going to Italy for 2 weeks and wouldn't have any way of charging their new 4GB iPod Nano. I did a bunch of research and chose the maxell battery pack because it had (mostly) excellent reviews, it ran off of AAA batteries instead of some exotic battery that only radio shack sells, and everything else on the market received such poor reviews. When my parents returned, they said it worked perfectly. They were able to use the iPod the entire time and they never even needed to change the batteries! I purchased this Maxell Backup Battery pack for my Nano IPod. When I connected it to my Nano after it's internal power source was completely depleted, nothing happened and the nano would not operate. When I install the Battery pack to my charged Nano, I get a message on the nano's screen saying; Charging is not supported with this accessory. I read all the enclosed info that came with the charger and it clearly states that it works for the IPod Nano, that it does not charge the Nan but only provides an external power source which it does not do. Maybe the one I got was faulty??Customer Review: From Maxell Support iPod Touch 4G NOT SUPPORTED!!!

Although this unit is being sold as a P-2 2-G it is NOT. It is the older P-2. The P-2 is White. The P-2 2-G is Black. The P-2 uses AA batteries. The P-2 2-G uses AAA batteries. Maxell states both units work with iPod 4g. BUT the p-2 does NOT work with iPod Touches. From Maxell technical support: Apple changed the way their iPods handle power and older accessories such as the P-2 will not work with newer iPod Nanos and with the iPod Touch.
Again, from Maxell support: P-2 2G was not actually available in the marketplace and its release had been delayed indefinitely.
