The previous reviews are correct. This does not fit on a 7 inch tub. The insert with the bar says 6 inches.
It does appear to be a good product- very sturdy.
It is heavy and I am not looking forward to how much it is going to cost to return it.

It toke me 10 minute to install the bathtub bar.
Find the location about off the center point.
Open the jaw (up to the maximum 6.5 inches).
Start turn the screw and lock it.
