I needed a nightlight to provide light during times such as the middle of the night when it is inconvenient to switch on regular lights. As a LED light, this nightlight uses a very small amount of electricity and can therefore be kept on 24/7. The photo sensor is a night touch too as the nightlight might as well be off when regular lights are on.
The colors are all bright with the exception of pure red. The light blue and white colors can light up a small bathroom but when it transitions to red, everything becomes much darker.

I had been looking for a nightlight for my bedroom; specifically one that was bright enough for me to check on my sleeping baby. Most nightlights are barely bright enough to show you the way to the bathroom. This one, from across the room, is bright enough I can peek into the crib and see him asleep, awake and whether or not he is breathing (yes, I am a paranoid mom). The light isn't so bright that it will keep someone who is a light sleeper awake either. Plus, the color cycles take the light from fairly dark to very light.

this is very nicely made, has the ability to choose a color light you like best (locks into that colors brightest setting), and a sensitive eye that turns if off during the day or when room light is on. Costco has them in 5-packs for $15, but if you only need the one, Amazon's the place to be especially if you need another $6 order to get free shipping. this item is great for arts&crafts projects as you can use paint or even a sharpie to make a design on the clear plastic, that will then throw shadows and glow at night, sweeeeet.Customer Review: Excellent low power solution for a nightlight

Normal nightlights draw more on the order of 5W however, these very bright LED lights only draw 0.6W per light. You can choose between seven colors for every single light, or have them cycle between colors. In addition, you can also select the actual brightness of the light.
I bought several packs and have lights in every single room. It provides a very nice ambiance as well as being able to find your way through the house at night without disturbing anyone, and with a very low environmental/energy bill impact.

Not as bright as I thought it would be, a bit temperamental if any light is available near the dark room, requires shielding the light with hand to trigger the sensor. Is therefore not all that effective as a "night light" in a bathroom. I put the second one purchased in a drawer, suspect it probably will never be used. I prefer the small night lights that simply use regular bulbs and when I find one at the grocery store or the dollar store this one will probably be replaced. Both likely to end up in a FreeCycle bag.
