Customer Review: Good chapstick, Cooling relief

So my lips tend to get really chapped in the winter time as well as my hands bleed sometimes from being chapped. I hate the way that chapstick and lotion feels so I usually just let it go. But when my knuckles bleed, it's time to put some lotion on. I tend to wait until it's too late to put moisturizer on. Anyways, I bought 1 stick of this stuff for 3.00 on ebay and you can get 12 sticks for 15 dollars here on amazon. I didn't need that many, plus I wanted to test it before buying that many. This stuff is pretty good. I was looking for a chapstick that gives you that cooling relief to let you know it's working and soothes the lips. It gives a normal amount of cooling relief and I like it. The smell is very similar to chewing tobacco mint flavored. It's not too strong but you notice it when you first put it on. It also has SPF 15 so in the summer at the beach this stuff will be great. I read all the great reviews here on Amazon and needed something with that cooling relief so I tried it out and I'm glad I did. I am still searching for Aveeno's Cooling Relief Lip Balm because that stuff is amazing and worked very well, but this is a good substitute and probably a lot cheaper. This stuff lasts longer than the regular chapstick I think and it's easier to put on I think. Either way if you have really bad chapped lips, don't wait to buy this stuff, you won't regret it!Customer Review: The BEST lip balm out there. PERIOD.

I've been using this product for 10 years! I think that speaks for itself...but I'll point out a few things:
I have EXTREMELY sensitive lips. They'd always get sunburnt & wind-chapped during the winter, & even the most expensive hypo-allergenic lip cosmetics would cause a reaction -- resulting in painfully swollen lips with difficulty eating, drinking, & talking for days. I tried ALL sorts of "soothing" & medicated lip balms, but NONE of them worked. Natural Ice completely soothed my irritated lips, AND protected them from future problems. I've never had sunburnt or wind-chapped lips since then! And if I have an allergic reaction to lipstick (which hardly happens anymore - due to this product? maybe...), as long as I take it off & apply Natural Ice right away, it will disappear shortly.
I'm not a fan of flavored balms. Natural Ice has no minty flavor, which I was worried about. The menthol is purely "experienced" & not tasted.
Unfortunately stores in my area stopped carrying Natural Ice a few years ago, so I turned to the internet. The price is quite worth it! I've got the box of 12, & keep one everywhere: bathroom, bedside table, vanity table, pockets of sweaters & jackets, in purses/wallets. I don't think I'll have to order another box until next year.

I bought this product based on the best per-tube price. I wish I have tried just one stick first.
I don't like this product:
1. Flavor. I don't like the tingling feeling after the application, and the after taste it leaves.
2. It does not have a lot of staying power compared to Chapstick I used before I bought this product. So it requires re-application, and when you don't like the taste it leaves that is not good.
3. Hardness. The lip barn is hard, I have used it for 1 week now and the edges of the stick are still hard and did not get rounded. With Chapstick after a couple of uses the end of the tube becomes nicely round and feels good on your lips.
4. Packaging. The lip balm comes in a white tube which has a label glued to it. The wrapper was attached so poorly that it came off the first time I opened it. I now have a totally white stick with no label of any kind.
My advice: don't buy a big pack until you try just one tube and decide for yourself if you like it. I wish had done that.

The Natural Ice lipbalm was produced in a tube (like Carmex) in the early 1990s and was the best lip product I've ever used...it lasted forever, was cheap, and worked _really_ well. But they quit making it sometime around 1998 and replaced it with this stick version. The stick is just not as good; it costs more, doesn't last as long (the package, not per application), and it's more subject to melting in hot weather. Still, I've tried probably two dozen similar products and Natural Ice is the only one that really works for me-- particularly in Minnesota winters, when it often hits -20F and is really windy.
I probably have ten sticks of Natural Ice around the house/car/work and always have one in my pocket. The only way to improve it (other than bringing back the old tube version) would be to sell it in multi-packs like Chapstick and Blistex do.

Sometime last year stores stopped stocking Natural Ice Lip Protectant and I am HAPPY now that amazon.com offers it! Even in bulk - that's good news (less trips trying to find it & I can share it). I've been using this product for about 5 years now and my friend tried it and has been using it. It does protect - does not feel 'greasy' and has a minty soothing feel. Have you ever had dry, chapped lips that hurt so bad you just wanted to feel relief!?! Well, this product does just that with a cooling sensation. I've seen 15 other brands/types of lip balm at the store - tried several, but nothing beats NATURAL ICE! The cherry is OK - but doesn't appear to have that cooling effect like the regular. Also, the sport one appears to feel more 'heavy' on the lips. If you try this product, you will want to continue to use it. I use mine ALL YEAR ROUND!
